I found this specifically regarding yr Buffalo router, and thought it might be worth a try (changing the channel to 1)

I'll give this a try now, thanks

Can I just ask who your internet provider is?

I'm with orange (free with my mobile contract, which is why I stick with them!). My current router isn't the one they supplied - I'm not sure I ever got a wifi one from them when I first signed up (in wanadoo days). I've had my current router since 2007,

In that case, I suggest that you check out their current offerings, and ask to be upgraded onto a better tariff and/or be given a free router. If they won't play ball, you can always ask for your mac code. It is not a cancellation, just the code that you need to go to another provider and if you don't use it within 30 days it lapses - but it should result in you being put through to their retentions team who should do a deal for you to get you to stay, which should include a new router configured for your orange BB. With a bit of luck, you might keep the free BB and just get a new router, if that's what you want... certainly worth a try.

well I've just spoken to Orange who just offered to send me a new route! I just mentioned the problems and said i thought I needed to get a new router and then said they'd place the order for me! So they're sending me a bright box routr - just like that!
