I'm going to defend kwik fit on this one. i must admit that last time i needed a tyre they stung me on price, but this was because i needed a tire quick as it was practically bald on the inside half of the tire.

but if you buy online from them, they are actually quite good. they practically matched the mytire price for 4 pirelli P6's (difference of a couple of quid) as the price from mytire went up due to the only garage partner for them in my area was charging more than kwik fit for fitting them (they charge extra for fitting to alloys ???)

Excellent resource - many thanks for sharing. Very useful for comparing safety, performance and economy of the tyres I'm just about to purchase and then finding the best price. Love it! Thank you!

    Dont bother then

Sad that you adopt that attitude, when there are many people on here who have first hand experience of Kwik Fit and their enthusiasm for finding "extra work".
I use my own eyes to determine when certain jobs have to be carried out - tyres, brakes (discs and pads), fluid levels, and so should you.

Tucker and Worried jim not very helpful replies. Everyone else many thanks.

I think you'll find most people agree with what they say, they wanted to replace a whole load of parts on my car when it was in to get one rear brake checked and insisted all the work did urgently need done even though the parts had been fitted six months ago (I was unlucky apparently). After a bit of heated discussion they eventually agreed to fix just the faulty part, there was no problem with any of the other parts they had flagged as dangerous and needing replacement according to a trusted mechanic and the car passed its MOTs without issue.

Just out of interest I have checked rezulteo and blackcircle for a bog standard mid range tyre and my local independent beats both.

And i'll bet the fella at Crapfit was trying to shift his stock of "Ditch Finder XL's".

And him. And the next person.....

Tucker and Worried Jim. I too was confused by your posts, which on first reading don't appear to offer any useful advice (What is "and him" actually saying?) Only after reading the entire thread do I realise you are endorsing an earlier post, so please lighten up on Rupert Bear or offer a little more clarity ;)

I wholeheatedly agree though - Halfords charged me £150 for a replacement suspension spring to pass an MOT, claiming the existing one was coroded. I was susequently told by a mechanic that a coroded spring wouldn't fail an MOT - only a broken spring can.
My father was also ripped off by KwikFit for a whole new exhaust because his was 'coroded' (show me one that isn't!)

Not sure what you drive but this would have been around £80 at a decent independant garage. My wife has to drive over lots of wonderful trafic calming lumps on her way to work so we know a bit about cracked springs.

Well the good thing about that is that six months later when the replacement exhaust also has a bit of surface corrosion (and it will, as the steel is of the lowest possible quality) you can go back to KF and ask for another.

... what's that you say? :rotfl:

No need to be confused, just avoid Kwik Fitt like the plague in the future and you'll be fine.
