Hi all

Thanks to people on this board's help I did Closed's method for Speeding up my PC about 18months ago and added an extra 1GB of RAM about 1yr ago it made a big difference and I have been really pleased with it.

But......the last couple of weeks I have noticed that it has slowed quite a bit again.

I'm using Avast all up to date no viruses, have ran Malwarebytes and CC Cleaner etc.

This is my commit charge Total 867268 / Peak 1273028

Could someone please have a look at my hijack this log below and see if there is anything obvious to change on that? Thanks!

your current commit charge isn't being helped by so many instances of chrome being open along with firefox. There's nothing glaringly obvious going on in the log, maybe the Maxtor scheduler....continuous backup program not helping ? Are you auto-installing windows updates in the background ?? Oh, and by the way, your java's out of date:-

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_jre_32/

...and tick and fix all the O16 entries in hjt...and post a new log....

quick scan with malwarebytes and post the log :)

Thanks for your help gunJack! :)

    In answer to your questions!

I did notice there were a few bits about Chrome it must be because I had 3 tabs open which I generally always have between 3-5 open but only noticed the pc more slower recently. I have always had windows update on Auto?

The Maxtor thing I just use it as and when to do a backup copy on an external HDD I wasn't aware there was a continuous back up element to it? Is it something I can stop / fix / delete?

Have ticked & Fixed the 016 entries and updated Java.

Here are the Malwarebytes Quick Scan results: & I will post the Hijack this ones in a new post.

    Thanks I have fixed those.

    Left it a while but it's still S L O W!!

The main thing that it bugging me is Windows Explorer I'm trying to sort my photos out so have a couple folders open but it keeps being very slow opening folders that used to be much faster before and it just hangs and takes ages at times I looked at Task Manager and it said CPU Usage 100% when it was like that?

I even tried closing all other programs disconnecting Wireless and Turning off Avast as I thought I had noticed it slower since since Avast upgraded to version 7. But it made no difference opening closing / folders etc. were still very slow / crashing.

Has anyone got any suggestions for what could be causing this?

let's try something.......bear with me on this...

    1. The TPLink WLAN manager should have an icon in the notification area (bottom right of taskbar). Open it, and see if there's an option to let windows manage the wireless network. If so, do it(you may need to re-enter your wifi password for the windows manager). If not, go Start > Control Panel>Network Connections, right-click on your wifi connection and select Properties. In the middle tab, tick the box to let windows manage your wireless connection, and reboot. Ensure your wifi connection is re-made via the windows manager rather than the TPLink one.

    2. Open CCleaner, go to Tools > Startup, and Disable everything bar avast (highlight entry, then click Disable button). Reboot machine.

    3. Once it's finished booting, see what your commit charge is, run and post a new hjt log and see how it's performing then :)
