Need a short term broadband option.

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone had any advice. I have just moved into a new shared flat, and I am looking to setup the internet there. As we have ionly signed the lease for 6 months, don't want to commit to a 12 internet contract so I am looking for the best short term option.

I have seen that 02 offers some such deals. I had a look at their website, put in my address details at which I have a phone line, the address came up on their search as having one, yet they still want to apply an £86 new line installation charge (albeit discounted to £43). With the one off £35 connection fee this adds up!

Just wondering if anyone knew if this was really the only way to go or if there were any better options?

Cheers
:)

I would suggest you try 3 mobile broadband. I've been using it for about 3 years and, since you can buy it as a PAYG option, you would not be tied to any contract. Their speeds and reliability have been getting better and better over the years and I can get downloads of around 5 Mbps which is almost on a par with typical wired broadband providers.
  • Hi Thanks for the reply. As I am living in a shared house, I was really looking for an internet connection that could be shared by everyone living in the property. Think I am going to have to just go with o2 as there doesn't seem to be much other choice around, just put up with the charges.

Plenty of ISP's offer monthly contracts
    Zen,IDNet,ADSL24,Vivaciti,Aquiss,Webtapestry,Goscomb to name a few.
If its a new activation rather than a migration you will probably have to pay an activation charge

Also many won't charge to take an internet package with you when you move. I am with BE and they transferred the deal to my new house when I moved with no charge whatsoever.
