yes although it was a 6 birth van they gave us an 8 birth inventory so cups plates duvets ect for an 8 birth van, and allso all the passes to the park,
apparently too many people on the park over occupy (probably not by so many) but they turn a blind eye as its too difficult to police0 -
i have taken photos throughout the van, there is thick black mould throughout the van, i have looked into this and it can cause a variety of health problems. there is also the fact that they put us at risk in the first place selling as a van knowing it would be over occupied, we have since learnt that insufficant ventilation could have caused death.
With all due respect, melodrama won't help anyone. I've not heard of many cases where people died because there were 7 of them in a 4 berth caravan..
If they won't sort this out amicably with you, a family with a disabled child camped outside their Sales Office telling anyone who'll listen how badly they've been treated might encourage them to play ball..;)0 -
Sorry to post a negative reply but I think you won't have a leg to stand on. I used to own a caravan at a afirly large company. The caravan was an 8 berth, as dictated by the manufacturer. On all documentation, including the insurance we had on the van and the site rules it stated that the maximum occupency could not be exceeded.
This park gave us more than 8 passes for the park, for other members of the family on the understanding that we all couldn't be in the van at the same time, but knowing a family would rotate users of the van across the year.0 -
I would try to get all correspondence in writing.
If you advised them of the over occupancy I think this would supersede any and all notices. The problems here are whether you would be deemed to have accepted the amendment to the contract having reviewed the second caravan and exchanged keys0 -
You say it was supposed to be 8 berth - but is actually 6 - and you have 11 people in it.
So you are breaking the berth number anyway - no matter which is right.
How were the original beds made out? Have you included pull out beds in the berth number?
You should only have accepted the new van if you were 100% happy to do so.0 -
Get your original van back and only take the numbers of people that it can accommodate.

no more stupid than an 8 berth to be fair0

No more stupid then buying a 6 berth, getting an inventory for an 8 berth in ther eand then taking 11 people to sleep in it.
And then changing it for a bigger van in a poorer condition in a different location.
And not getting everything documented."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0
