Green light only means you may go on if the way is clear. As I'm sure insurance companies love telling people who have been side swiped by some muppet at the lights. :(

Not sure what point you are trying to make here.

Obviously getting a green light does not mean that you can drive into someone who is blocking your way.

And basic common sense should tell you that you should not proceed across a junction if someone is approaching it at a rate such that they will not have time to slow and stop and will hit you if you try and cross.

But if you are suggesting that you should never cross a green light unless there is no conflicting traffic approaching that is absurd.

  • Me and my mum were stopped at a roundabout, and a lady came zooming down the hill on her phone. She ended up hitting us as she wasn't paying attention and wrote off her car. I still get pains in my neck from it :(

I've beeped and gesticulated many a time to selfish morons wizzing along driving whilst on their phones. It's one of my pet hate--infact it drives me mad
When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

Wow! it's amazing what the iPhone can do :)

Back on topic, I was rear ended in my car by a white van. The white van man came rushing out with mobile phone in hand, saying "I'll call you later". Sadly no witnesses, but he did accept responsibility.

No, that's not what I'm suggesting. What I saying is that just because there's a green light showing you don't have a god given right to carry on ahead without checking what may come hurtling into you. Simple as that.

Not absurdity, just the Highway Code. Re-read it sometime. Everyone should.

even before it was illegal I never used a phone while driving, because I knew couldn't concentrate on driving. Usually I keep my bag (and phone) in the boot so I never hear it.;)
