What BlackBerry?

The keyboard on my BlackBerry Curve is playing up, I've had it for around 2 and a half years, so it's time for me to get a new one.

I've given my month's notice to Orange and will be looking to take out a new contract at the end of this month.

I want to stick with BlackBerry but does it really matter what BlackBerry I get? I mean, essentially, they all do the same thing, don't they?

I don't mind who I go with next although am a little naffed off with Orange - my contract ran out last year and I agreed to renew with them, not tied to any particular contract and able to cancel whenever with a month's notice. I 'phoned up last week to cancel only to be told I couldn't as I'd signed up to a 2 year contract with them! So, they're not in my good books at the moment.

So, can I ask you, is any particular blackBerry better than another?

Thanks, Birdy

The cheapest new BB costs about £100, the most expensive is about £450. Surely there has to be some real difference to pay extra £350 for.

I don't look at the price of the 'phones themselves. As I'm looking to take out another contract,Ii'm expecting to 'phone to be thrown in with the contract.

I can't think of anything that BlackBerry could provide that could result in a price difference of that much. I was only looking for a cheap contract anyway so, no doubt, I'll end with one of the cheaper versions.

    Anyway, cheers for the non-advice...

It is self-delusion. Ultimately you pay for the handset through higher monthly payments. Just compare this 'another' contract to sim-only tariffs.

    Not at all.

For various BBs available see, say, http://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/pay-as-you-go/ and select 'manufacturer'.
  • Depends what you want from your Blackberry. Go for one of the later models with OS7. The 9900 has a keyboard and touchscreen, Curve 9360 has a keyboard, Torch 9810 has the slide out keyboard. The new Curve 9380, Torch 9860 are full touchscreen. These have a larger screen.

Me, personally I have the Torch 9860 and like it. It has a larger screen, OS7. All these later models can take a memory card up to 32Gb.

Go somewhere like the Carphone Warehouse and "play" with them.
