ASDA Food Poisoning

Last Wednesday I met up with my mother at a local ASDA store I bought a bottled chocolate milkshake and then continued to sit down and drank a large mouthful to my horror it was a similar consistency to cottage cheese and I had already swallowed it. I immediately felt awful, I took the bottle back up to the till and the woman smelled it and offered me a replacement, I told her no thankyou as I felt sick, I instead swapped it for a bottled water, the staff then went over to the fridge and removed ever bottle of chocolate milk, within five minutes I was in ASDA's toilets vomiting and this continued for two evenings, I am considering a complaint as I am fuming that I was put through such violent sickness, does anyone have any tips or advice on the best way to go about this?
thanks in advance, Andy

You brought the problem to the attention of the staff and they took immediate action. What more do you want ... or can I guess?

I'm sure if you write to the store, or call in and calmly talk to the duty manager, they will refund the few pounds your dinner cost.

    Problem sorted?

Have you asked for either or do you expect them to be telepathic and know what you want?

Although everyone here can't bring themselves to say the word compensation, sometimes it's due.

If a customer is made to feel ill by a bad product why shouldn't they be compensated. Asda sold someone something that made them feel ill so they should comensate in some way.

I would have a word with the manager and see what he can do.

While something (at least an apology) may be due, there are a few details that would likely influence any compensation claim..the most basic being -

    1. Was it out of date?

If OP writes to them, keeps it simple and tells them what they want in a simplistic manner (ie I would like an apology, tighter stock control and reimbursement for my wasted dinner totalling £x.xx). They may add in a goodwill gesture. The few times i've had to complain to asda they've always been pretty good.

It could be that the fridge was too cold.
It may have been lumpy as it could have been partly frozen like a slush drink.

It wouldnt be lumpy, it would be slicey, slush drink isn't lumpy.

If the fridge was not cold enough, and hadn't been for a while the milk would be off and go lumpy - yak................
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

So to compound everything you were in ASDA's toilets for two evenings. I hope it was a 24 hour store. :(
