Cashback Ripoffs

Hi , Martin and MSE have been in the news as they have helped many people who have been unfairly levied bank charges. Can't this forum highlight the financial problems faced by customers who have lost lots of money due to nonpayment or delayed payment of cashback by mobile companies .This is a well known problem and has been featured in BBC news but nobody is making a noise about this ripoff.

I'm tempted to sign up for one of these deals, but don't want to be stuck with a crap phone on an expensive contract. If you join up to one of these scheme, you should look on it as a bonus if you get your cashback, as your contract is with the network. If you sign up e.g to a £35 a month deal and you are provided with the appropriate service from the network you can't blame them if you don't get your cashback. I advise you to go for the best phone on offer not necessarily the one with the most free months with a crap phone, at least then you will get more if you want to sell the phone.0

It's a much more complex area and in alot of cases it would be useless as most of the bad companies are small and simply declare themselves bankrupt so going after them would be a complete waste of time....unlike the banks who are here for the forseeable future0 -

i have just bought a phone on a cash back system.
£30/35 a month - then £4.99 with cashback(they changed to £9.99 now)
only need to make 1 claim. at 6 months(180-210 days of connection)
also i was told over the phone that you are aloud to send the redemption claim within 2 months.
and the phone...
its a SAMSUNG E900!! :rotfl: :T :rotfl: :money:
BUT as its been changed you cant get it at that price now. you can get the motorola v3 i think it was at that price tho.

I disagree with some of what has been said. The companies in question have behaved despicably, we know who they are, there mode of operation is as bad as the banks who overcharge. They promise cashback and their willingness to pay is hugely suspect. I believe that we need a crusade to make them stick to their promises and pay up the cashback that they promise. There are far too many honest people let down by their hollow promises.
I believe that the involvment of MSE Martin, in particlular wth CPW/OSPS who be very popular and get the message across.0 -
Everybody has good and bad experiences with every company, and sometimes it is people's own fault for sending in bills late etc etc. CPW are very highly regarded by alot of people and I have used them for 4 years with huge numbers of cashback contracts with no problems whatsoever.0

Most of the problems I’ve seen come from people not realizing that the dealer and the network aren’t the same company. This maybe down to the dealer misrepresenting them selves of course, but I know of people threatening to take the network to court for not giving them their money back !!0
