Halifax and Barclays PPI reclaim trouble

Why not focus Halifax's mind with a letter before action. This will state that you are intending to take them to the small claims court, the other route available instead of the FOS. This should get them moving as they have told you that they owe you the money and it's pretty much an open and shut case.

Doesn't work. I've threatened them in emails twice and they haven't even acknowledged them, even though I know they did get them (checked in one of my phone calls and sure enough they said they were on 'file'). Halifax don't give two hoots because they know that FOS/court takes time and they're taking there time as it is. They probably encourage you to do so as it means they can actually not make the payment and blame YOU for holding the process up with legal action. I wouldn't put it past them. Basically, we're screwed no matter what we do or don't do.

For what it's worth, I got my letter on 12 October saying they were to repay me £3,500. I'm still waiting. A friend got a letter last July, she's still waiting. I've told them to save the blah blah fobbing off excuses for first/second/third time callers. After that we all know we are just getting a large serving of BS.

Also, the loan the ppi relates to was paid off last May, early, so there is nothing outstanding that they can off set it against. I'm debt free. They are just withholding payments for the hell of it.
