    Two more questions:
    1. When filling out the Word template claim form are there any words or phrases I should not put?

    2. Do you add any cover letters with the claim form?

Many thanks to all who have replied to this.
    1. There are very few unfortunate turns of phrase which could cause you to have your complaint dismissed. Just try to give the reasons for your claim as clearly as you can and in your own words where possible
    2. Yes. Add a short cover letter with your personal details and a summary of why you are complaining.

Stick to the truth. Dont waste your time on internet myths on what you can complain about. Some things, for example, may be mis-sale reasons but you cannot prove them so if you focus too much on those then it is an easy rejection. Some things on the internet are not actually complaint reasons at all.
Having read a lot and spending two days looking through paper work I have found the following:

    Nationwide PPI
HSBC Life policy when I was Self employed
    Old Northern Rock Mortgage PPI

And what exactly is wrong with the two MPPI plans and the life assurance?

All three of those are set up correctly (as they dont do single premium). So, what is it that your complaint is going to be about?

The HSBC Life is not a PPI so that will not be persued as it was sold correctly when I was Self employed. It was not to cover a loan or Mortgage.

The Nationwide was a PPI policy that was added to our Mortgage. We knew it was there but didn't realise it could be removed or was optional. We were told the Mortgage figure with it added. Also when we took a payment holiday for the mortgage we were told we had to keep paying this when clearly we didn't and could have stopped the policy.

The Northern Rock was a pre 2005 mortgage that was sold to us as a first time buyer through a broker. We had to have their "supercover Plus" insurance and PPI cover or the interest rate would go up 0.5 %. Surely this is wrong?

I will send off the Claims and see what happens.

    Thanks for your advice.

That is a very weak complaint. You cant prove it and it may just be your recollection. You may be right but you may be wrong.

It is common sense to keep it running as authorised arrears are just temporary. No complaint issues there.

It doesnt matter if it is wrong. It is pre 2005 and sold through a broker. Brokers are allowed to insist on insurance if it is being used to pay for the mortgage advice.

A claims company has no way around regulations.

Apart from those governing how they behave because their regulator is useless.

If you use a claims company then expect to be stitched up by it because they know they can get away with stitching you up.

Oh well I posted this for advice but it seems from your comments that you are against anyone who tries to complain. Why? (don't bother answering I can see you are a financial advisor from your signature and are sticking up for your kind)

In the end I have sent the forms, if we are not entitled to anything then so be it. At least we sent off the forms to ask.

Thanks to all the good advice on here, lets hope for the best.

    The End, cheers.

Learn to read you ignoramus. There are plenty of posts where I tell people where or how to complain. Not sure why you suddenly turned so rude.

sticking up for my own kind....lol. Clearly you dont have a clue what an IFA is.

Since DunstonH is an INDEPENDENT Financial Adviser, he does not represent either Nationwide or Northern Rock.

However, both Nationwide and Northern Rock's owners will incur the cost of investigating an unwarranted complaint from you which will be borne by their respective owners. As a member of Nationwide, that includes me. As Northern Rock is in State ownership, that includes me too.

So I am entitled to resent you wasting my money.
