My account is suspended at the moment NARU "terencemelia", i think it is disguisting that ebay require the same type of proof you require to open a bank account!!, surely if there was a problem with my details then my feedback would reflect this, but it doesn't.
  • Must say I disagree with it being genuine just because its in your inbox. I've received mail (usually people tring to sell stuff outside ebay - earn 10 grand a month that kind of stuff) but ebay usually picks up on yjis and sends me a mail about it - not to reply etc. Best bet is to contact customer services.

My account is NARU, ebay have responded to numerous mails with links to useless pages to contact information that send me in circles, there no two ways about it, they require this info. I was just hoping someone else had at some point been asked the same question, think I'll check on the eba forums tomorrow.

    Thanks guys.

If it is an official ebay message and shows as from ebay in your 'official' ebay message system when you log in then it is genuine.

Re the posts about opening new accounts...opening a new account or operating from a secod account whilst suspended is not allowed. When caught all accounts will be suspended for good.

  • Meliat, I had a similar message 2 years ago! I had good feedback and all of a sudden they suspended my account and I had to produce the same things as you as well. Also I had to phone the US with some details (memory is hazy now) and the whole process would have taken a couple of weeks ( gathering all the proof they needed). Also they didn't ask for all details at once but one at a time, expecting me to jump through hoops!

My husband was asked for only one piece of info and my best friend none so I didn't bother following it through- I buy using my husband account.

I've recently checked my account and it seems I can purchase up to the value of £250. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I rely on my account for my extra bit of cash so I'm going to fax across what they ask for, just really peeved they need such personal and sensitive info, glad to see at somebody else has had this before.
I'll let you know how I get on.

This is the response I got from asking why such sensitive info is required

    ==============================

    Hello,

Thank you for writing back to us regarding the suspension of your eBay
account. I'd like to explain why we aren't prepared to consider your
account for reinstatement at this time.

The safety of the eBay marketplace and our members' security are our top
concerns. For that reason, we require eBay members to always provide
valid and complete contact information. This enables effective
communication between eBay members and between eBay and its members.

If we are unsure about the accuracy or authenticity of a member's
contact information, we will often require the member to provide
documents to verify such information. As explained in our previous
email, we are asking you to send us copies of documents that will
confirm some of the contact information you've given us. I'm afraid we
won't consider your account for reinstatement until we receive the
    requested documents.

Please refer to our previous email for information regarding your
suspension and the documents we require in order to review your account
    for reinstatement.

Please be assured that we treat your personal information with the
utmost care and that we observe all necessary data protection
requirements. Our customer support staff will review your documents
purely for the purposes of internal administration. We always destroy
    documents after we've reviewed them.

We look forward to receiving your documentation so that we can resolve
this matter as soon as possible for you.

    Kind regards,

Therefore it is likely that someone has reported you for false or missing information and ebay are checking up. Is your telephone number and full address shown clearly, as it might be something as simple as that?

I think this is the likely answer. Perhaps your phone number has changed... or you had an old mobile number listed...

Have any of your customers recently requested your contact details? If they did this, then tried to ring your number, and it was unobtainable - you have a recipe for suspension.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

I fully appreciate this, but a simple email to update contact information would sufice. Typical e-bay.
