My ebay account has been suspended because of ,'account information', and they are requesting the following info before re-activating, has anyone ever encounted this before as what they are asking if a bit much, i.e a photo of myself?

  • Please say you didnt get this in an email?

It could be a spoof email, log on to ebay by typing in the url in the address bar and check your account.

hope this helps!!! there are LOADS of scams about, as much as they look really like ebay mails they might not be..... you can forward the email to e-bay and ask them to verify that it is from them. They actively encourage you to do this...the need to know about scam emails too!! dont send anything until they have confirmed it!

  • this seems a bit bizarre - have you changed any of your details/done anything recently that might explain this?

can you still get into you ebay account?

i would cut and paste the message and forward to spoof@ebay.co.uk for them to check.

what address have they given you for sending this info.

i have received emails from 'opportunists' in ebay my messages which have then been followed up by messages from ebay saying 'please do not reply to them'.

let us know what ebay say. i would be very reluctant to send them anything. ask them to phone you instead.
  • Have you tried using your account to see if it is suspended? It seems very strange that they ask for all that ID stuff when they don't ask for it to set up an acocunt. Interestingly it is also the sort of ID you need to set up other accounts!

I wouldn't send them. Anything that proves your address e.g. utility bill can be used to set up bank accounts etc. in your name.

Also, I'm sure someone has said on here before that when your account is suspended there is some note to this effect when you sign in or on 'my ebay'??

OP says the message shows in his ebay messages which means it is genuine.

Therefore it is likely that someone has reported you for false or missing information and ebay are checking up. Is your telephone number and full address shown clearly, as it might be something as simple as that?

Yes if it is in your inbox it is genuine as soolin says.I would just contact ebay give them the information they need and everything will be fine- as far as I knew they dont suspend your account unless you fail to provide the information with so many days- unless they have tried telephoning you or verifying contact information you have given and could not do so.
