My screen keeps jumping....

Does anyone know why my screen on this PC keeps jumping, it does not loose the contents or the text but rolls and then settles and then you click on the side bar to go down and it goes too fast and starts jumping and rolling then settles and then does it all again....

Is it the mouse/the screen it does not settle and trying to read the posts/text is a nightmare?

Is it a virus? Can I stop it? So annoying.

Thank you:D

Does it do this in all applications, or just one?

I'm guessing you're using a laptop touchpad? Some touchpads incorporate a scroll facility, which if you use the right side of the pad will initiate this - bl**dy annoying. The options are to tap the central/left of the pad to stop it - or, dare I say it, use a traditional usb mouse - just guessing mind you.

Look in the control panel for "mouse" and change a few of the settings. I very much doubt it's a virus.

smos585 asked the very valid question of whether you are using the TOUCHPAD or an EXTERNAL MOUSE. Sometimes the former can get dirty and misbehave. Equally the laser underneath a mouse can get dirty and need cleaning - normally using a can of compressed air (available from any good stationery shop.

    Hope that helps.
If someone is worth thanking - click on the 'Thanks' button on their response. It's just a nice thing to do :-)

Try anything that relates to 'pointer acceleration' or similar - but do the easiest thing first and check the underside of the mouse for dust.
