Bt Wholesale question

Hi

I’m thinking of changing my Broadband/call package, currently have Virgin unlimited b-band and calls £12.55. I’ve just paid Bt line rental saver upfront ( so about £10 p/mth).
Can someone explain whether Bt wholesale provide Virgin media with the internet here, GU33 6JQ? I’ve never understood how this “wholesale” internet bit works?

Also, I am finding if I want to move my b-band to anyone else they will need me to move the line rental as well, as I’ve already paid this am I going to find my choices are much more limited.

Currently paying £22.55 a month which is good! Virgin Media have always given me a deal to keep me...

Thanks for your help,

angus

You will find better rates overall if you move your line rental as well but that does not limit your choice.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

If you are on Virgin National, then that is a resold BT Wholesale service. VM cable runs on VM's own cable network. You can't move from VM if you are on cable unless you get a BT based line installed-all ADSL services require this.
There are plenty of providers for broadband only if you want to switch.
Start with an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com

I am obviously restricting my choice, as I have paid for it Bt have me unless I cut and run loosing the saving...:T

thanks for sameknows, i still don’t quite get this wholesale stuff.

So there is a better choice if BT have the wholesale or a smaller choice of providers?

    thanks

I cannot believe I'm saying this but you would be better off with Talk Talk, they are the sole LLU operator at your exchange.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

BT are the only wholesale supplier. Your options are to use either a BT reseller or an LLU supplier. It appears that TT are the only LLU provider-but that is why you need to do an exchange search using your number-the postcode data is not 100% reliable. The above assumes however that you are on the Liss exchange.

I’ve just checked, I know Talk Talk would be the cheapest but they still require a Line Rental too.

I am stuck with either bt or vm.

    Thanks for your reply.

No you are not. There are dozens of non-LLU suppliers to choose from: Plusnet, Zen, IDnet...

By looking at the samknows results for your postcode. All the LLU suppliers are listed: TT is the only one.

its the same with my tel number too macman, I think i’ll be moving over to bt after about 9 years of being with vm. They have been good, I’ll wait until the upgrade has gone through in mid march and double check for new offers to retain me however i’m getting fed up with it really.
    thanks for your replies
