My son has just bought the one year warrenty without reading the small print, saying it SOUNDED really good .I HAVE read the small print and it really is a pile of crap it covers virtually nothing they insist on replacing like for like parts of similar ..wear !!!! that would be from a scrap yard then.. if the part improves the general condition you may (will) be required to pay a specified amount (all) towards it ....they will only pay labour at their rates ( next to nothing) ..AND !!!!!!!!if the agreement is cancelled by you there will be no refund ..IS THIS PART LEGAL.He bought it yesterday i want to cancel does anyone know where i stand before i contact them .

A large number of aftermarket warranties cover lots but pay for very very little.

For example they will pay for the part that fails but not any consequential parts. So basically if your cambelt snaps and takes out the cylinder head, valves and pistons they'd pay £20 or so for a new cambelt but you would have to pay for the rest of the work.

Thanks but can they legally refuse me cancelling this policy after 1 day based on my belief that it was miss-sold even though guess what there is a clause in the policy that states

app is not responsible for any mistakes or incorrect information provided by the dealer about the nature or value of this agreement

If you have a hamster you could shred it and use for bedding.

Usual policy covers EVERYTHING that doesn't wear or break.

You could try claiming it was mis-sold, Choose items that fail on that model and ask if they are
covered. Explain that you were told they were.

A letter with the word COMPLAINT and sent recorded delivery may help them think your not going to roll over on this.

In reality how much time and effort are you willing to put into it?

I would like to see what the Financial Ombudsman Service thinks of that term.

My friend has had the same kind of experience with these companies(nearly all of them are the same). He bought a van and the guy at the showroom asked he wanted the warranty and my friend actually paid around £200 for the warranty which he was told included everything from parts to labour and can take the van to any garage which would take less than £20 per hour. Unfortunately after 6 months we had a snowfall and his van had a light in the dashboard, he took it to the ford garage and they charged him over £300 for the time they spent and gave an estimate of £1200 to do all the work. He contacted the warranty company and they did not wanted to hear anything and wasnt even willing to pay for the initial testing. Now same friend actually bought a car for his wife and when the guy said that he is giving warranty, my friend said that he wanted discount instead of warranty and ended up getting £100 discount on the car. If you think you got the cooling off period than i would advice you to get ur money back :)
If it ever got to the point where i have no money to eat. I would go to the police station and break something to get myself arrested. Atleast i would get a warm cell and food and if everyone who get SANCTIONED by the job center did that than the government would have to change there policy about sanctioning so many people on the work program.

Crafty !!!!!!s it seems autoprotect are not fsa regulated but they dont have to be as they put the responsibility on the garage who sell the policy and because its purchased at traders property it takes away distance so does not have to offer cooling off period ..but !!! i cant seem to find the garage who sold the policy on FSA register (they may operate under a different name)Iam going to contact trading standards for some advice tomorrow
