P&O Ferrys France to Calais £23 Return including free wine

Hi All,

Just received an E-mail from P+O stating the following:

Take a day trip to France before 30th April and receive two great onboard offers.
Book now and not only will you receive SIX FREE bottles of Gallo wine (red, white or ros!) when you travel, but you'll also receive a voucher entitling you to a 'buy one get one free' English Breakfast or Fish & Chips in our onboard Food Court!
Fares start at just £23 for travel from Sunday to Friday and you can travel on a Saturday from only £29. You can book this special offer until Thursday 29th March.

We did this last month although it was £19 then its still a great offer at £23
You can take a car and up to 9 people dont do Sundays like we did as most things are closed although saying that we did have a good time and at the end of the day the wine is worth more than the price paid.
Another tip dont look around on the boat go straight to breakfast as there can be a queue then collect your wine and relax Rose sells out fast with the vouchers so prioritise accordingly enjoy

We also went last month, and had a really cheap and very enjoyable day out.

I took advantage of this in February and hopefully will take advantage of it next month as I always pop over in April. I had a good day out for a good bargain of a price. Popped to Dunkirk.

True about the breakfast queues, but luckily last month we got uploaded quickly as we got there early and we beat the queues, unlike when we went over in December. One more tip from me is that I used a strong bag to carry the wine around as much easier than lugging it in the box.

You pick up the wine yourself from the shop, queue up and they take the ticket off you. :)

Could one of you three intrepid oenophiles who has already used this P&O ferry service be kind enough to tell the rest of us from where in France it sails to Calais?

It sails from Dover to Calais :o I think it was just a wee mistake by the the OP, easily done :)

I feel silly as I had to google " oenophiles" as I didn't know what it meant.

Note about the breakfasts. Avoid the scrambled egg - it's powedered egg and the last couple of journey's we've made with P&O really tastes of powder!

Just booked a day trip to France, went through the wine offer for the price, not because I need more GALLO wine.

It's not gallo wine at the moment, it's the JP wine :) Wobbly neck. I crossed over on Saturday and that was the wine I got.

DFDS are doing day trips for £19. Dover to either Calais or Dunkirk. This is the line that has taken over Seafrance trips.

Might use DFDS one of these days, I'm just so in the habit of using P&O, no reason really other than their have regular sailings. If the price is good though, I might use them.

There is no comparison between DFDS and P&O really as the 2 new ships that P&O have brought in are so much better than the DFDS ones. Really you cant even begin to compare them. The Spirit of Britain and Spirit of France are both beautiful ships, offering great service and facilities and for £23 including the wine, you just cannot go wrong.
