How to find cheapest fuel on a long journey?

Local ASDA? Yes it could be cheap, but it isn't necessarily the cheapest along my route, that is what my question was!
No, I stated go to the ASDA 'closest' to you. That can include your local one and one during your journey.
You could be anywhere in the UK, use the 'closest' ASDA when needing to fill up.
ASDA are virtually everywhere and they will most probably be the cheapest everywhere too, they price their petrol on a national basis. (You haven't stated what fuel you use)
On a long journey you are bound to come across an ASDA somewhere along the way.
Therefore the simple answer is, just use ASDA for fuel wherever you are in the UK as it will most probably be cheapest.0 -

Still doesn't help really. I don't want supermarket fuel. PLus I don't want to have to go off my route just to find a supermarket.
What I'm really asking is, of all the garages I drive right past on any given journey, how do I find out which if them is the cheapest.Debt: September 28th 2009 £0!!!!! Finally!

This site used to offer that feature but sadly doesn't anymore: http://www.keepmoving.co.uk/
I tend to look at the route and where there's a major city I type that into PetrolPrices.com and see what's near the junction.
I notice you don't want supermarket fuel but this site lists supermarkets which are located near motorway junctions (may be helpful for others reading this thread in future):

Thanks very much Crabman, thats the one - keepmoving - that I used to use years ago. No wonder I couldn't find it again if it no longer offers the option. I guess the odd supermarket fillup is ok so I'll check out the other site too, thanks.Debt: September 28th 2009 £0!!!!! Finally!

If you had said that in the first place then I wouldn't have wasted my time with you.
Next time, please make your threads clearer on what you want, don't want, like, dislike etc so I can ignore you.0 -

:rotfl:lol, calm down dear! If you read my first post you'll see I wrote "....which would tell me where along my route is the cheapest fuel?" Its not rocket science. I don't want to go wandering off my route to other wise I would have said, "where in the UK can I find the cheapest fuel, only including ASDA supermarkets"!Debt: September 28th 2009 £0!!!!! Finally!

It's not going 'off your route though' if it's a mile off the motorway.
If it saves you 7p a litre (which it would looking at the last services I passed) then it would be worth making that trip off the motorway for.
Of course you don't want to drive for 20 miles looking for an Asda but even branded fuel will be much cheaper off the motorway.
The advice given was spot on. Have a look for 3/4 tank range and do it that way. If you time it well you'll be able to get decent food at a reasonable price as well.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
You could try http://www.5minutesaway.co.uk/
This website gives all kinds of things, not just fuel, within 5 minutes or 3 miles drive of motorway junctions, so can be useful to find out what is close to where you are driving.0
