Hi all, wonder if anyone knows of a website that would allow me to input a long journey like you would on Google Maps, ie. London to Edinburgh, which would tell me where along my route is the cheapest fuel?

I use petrolprices.com but it is not suitable for this purpose becasue with this site you have to know where you want to fill up. I can't beleive such a site doesn't exist but I just can't find it!

Thanks inadvance.

I think this maybe the site you already know about. it's the only one i know.
If you were to plan your journey ahead and knew the towns you were going through, couldn't you put the the places on your route into the search one-by-one and see the best places to go.

I could, but that would be very time consuming for a ong journey, plus you only get 20 searches per day!

Is it really worth wasting time and energy over?

One petrol station 1p cheaper than the one a mile down the road. Most you going to save is 50p on a 50 litre tank.

How many miles do you get from a tankfull? If its 400 then choose somewhere 350miles away and use petrolprices.com for there.

You'd only need to do a couple of searches, say you were going down the motorway you'll only need to top-up once maybe twice so do a search about a third of the way down and look for a Asda/Tesco/Morrison within half mile of the motorway.

Its not worth wasting a lot of time over, no, which I why I want a quick fix web site. But with prices varying by up to 10p a litre, more including motorways it could save me £5 a fillup or about £100 a year.

Local ASDA? Yes it could be cheap, but it isn't necessarily the cheapest along my route, that is what my question was! The same logic goes for looking for the cheapest fuel towards the end of my tank range rather than over the whole route.

this site relies on local people to keep it up to date. If you know the post code of where you need to fill up you can look for the nearesr Asda filling station.

Don't believe any price that is more than a week old though.

That's what I do. I plan the route and near to points I'll need fuel I find out where there's a Tesco, Asda and Morrisons.

Just before we head off, I use petrolprices.com to see which of the supermarkets is cheapest at that time.

For example, southern Scotland is normally Asda at J44 of the M6. Norfolk is Tesco In Bury St Edmonds, Cornwall is Morrisons in Weston Super Mare. My starting point is Stafford.
