Agreed but I purposefully chose the option which said it would save all files.
There was the option of the whole PC getting cleared but I chose what I thought would be the better option in a bad situ.
It's just annoying and frustrating me because of these 2 pictures which have re-appeared thus indicating to me that all was not lost and that all my pic folders were *somewhere*.
However, I just have to accept it now.0 -

Sorry for delay in replying to your helpful posts....
My make of machine is 'IQON' (this is what appears on the front of the tower anyway) as for the space usuage...I'm really not sure to be honest - sorry.
I also tried the windirstat programme and I really couldn't see anything to help me (though of course this really means nothing since I am a bit wet behind the ears with trying to deciper programmes like that). I did click on various things but nothing was coming up to indicate I had hidden pics.0 -
GetDataBack is the only program that has ever worked for me. I used it again recently when a SATA HDD got corrupted somehow and (apparently) took all my photos with it. This prog managed to find them all and let me copy them to another backup device.
The free (demo) version will find the files but won't let you copy them. The licensed version will let you recover them. So maybe try the free version and see if it finds the photos, and if it does then buy a license key?
PS - you'll likely need the NTFS version, as Vista defaults to use the NTFS file system when installing.0 -
Just to add - I've used GetDataBack again tonight to recover some AVI files that went AWOL from another HDD. It found and recovered them all.0
