esure contents insurance claim, please help !!

I am after some advice please.
My house was burgled couple of wks ago. I was in the house when 2 black guys barged into my house when i opened the main door to put the rubbish out. Police were involved straightaway. i did inform esure about this.
In particular my iphone 4, my 22k gold chain and 22k diamond ring were the expensive items i lost. All of them were included under the high risk items.
I paid £300 pounds for my gold chain and £700 for my diamond ring 7 yrs ago in India. I emailed the original receipt to claims dept. My question is now gold price has boomed up many times, my items would be worth a lot more than that to buy them new now. Will i be getting the same amount which i paid 7 yrs ago or will i be paid as per the current rates.
2) for my iphone, i emailed them orange contract and it has well over 18 months contract left on it. I put an email to say that I am a doctor and sometimes when the nurses cant get hold off me on my bleep, they will contact me on my mobile and requested them to look at it asap. I received a phone call today from esure saying that my iphone claim was declined as I am using phone for business purposes. I am completely stunned by that. I am not a business man, the phone was registered on my name at my home address. It was not provided to me by the hospital. just because the nurses contact me at times on the mobile, how can they say it is not valid??
please help as I think this is quite a rip off. I dont know how to deal with this.

With most insurers these days you will get vouchers with a face value of replacing the items lost at their approved suppliers net of the excess. The fact gold is more expensive now would be reflected in the valuation.

You have unfortunately admitted that you use your phone as part of your employment/ "business" which at best means you're going to have to fight to get them to cover it and at worse it will be declined because it is not exclusively for personal use. You are going to have to register a complaint and point out it is a personal phone that is used as an emergency contact, in a similar way as a lot of people give their home phones and mobiles as the emergency contact for themselves or their next of kin for work just that you have more frequent work related emergencies.

Certainly both O2 and Vodafone, so I suspect Orange, will give you a loan phone whilst your insurance is sorted out. It will evidently be a basic phone but if your concern truly is the ability for nurses to contact you and not what bit of kit you to show off then the basic phone will solve the urgency issue and it will probably have better reception (know my wifes did whilst our claim for her iPhone went through)
