I've has a 123 account for several months now, moving to it froma 'normal' Santander Account, no probs, the interest is a bonus and being paid for DDs is great. Go for it
My only issue is their secure messaging, nearly every enquiry is answered with "our xxxxx service would be please to discuss this with you, call 0845 xxx xxxx. WHY???
Why can't they answer over secure mail, why should I pay a high cost call line ? Come on Santander,, stop the profiteering!0 -
I was enticed by the supposed rewards that accompany the Santander 123 Account. Fortunately, I didn't close my existing account with Barclays when opening the Santander Account.
When I encountered an anomaly, and tried to contact Santander, they made my life so difficult that that it in no way compensated for the £45.50 interest that I received over the two months I had maintained my account with them.
I dread to think what happens to Santander customers who have major issues that need any form of interaction with Santander staff.
Consider carefully before moving to Santander, as customer care is not part of their ethos.0 -
Hi,
I am considering opening the 123 account and noticed that there is cashback offered on it (55 GBP quidco, 45.45 TCB) - am I right in thinking that it doesn't matter whether I'm an existing Santander customer to get cashback (I don't have any current accounts with them)?
Thanks!0 -

[If you take the 123 Credit Card as well you can make a further £23.23 cashback - see here]

I agree go for it! Ignore the scaremongering on here - it's a great account - since opening not one problem all direct debit / standing order transfers went through effortlessly.
Since then every bill paid on time - interest as promised. Can't praise it enough.0 -
Thanks all!0

Had a quick look to see if it's worth me switching, one point of note. From what I can work out, you really need to check on Santanders savings checker thing, that your energy or phone supplier is signed up. If there not then you won't get tehcashback you were expecting. (as you may have guessed mine aren't!)
I'm a newbie so please be kind!!0
