Really funny, all those people with 1 or just a couple of posts, trumpeting the advantages of Santander :rotfl:

So you need a big post count here in order to have an opinion

Can't see a down side to this account. The credit card is probably not worth it for me as I only ever use it for online purchases, unless I started using the credit card for it, purely to get the cashback.

I appreciate that people have had issues with them but I've got a current account, cash ISA and mortgage with them and they have never put a foot wrong, my mortgage is currently at 1.29%, the ISA is giving me 3.3% and I can save £70+ a year with this current account.
Why would I go anywhere else ?

    Not necessarily.

But as innovate alluded to, there are a lot of people with one post on this thread who are lending their approval to this account which is not established, from an institution which has had a reputation for poor customer service.

(this part is entirely optional http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tytH44yIrIQ , Alan in my mind plays the part of a large Spanish multinational, allegedly)

I'm just going to add this quote from the sister website of the Financial Mail:

"Judging by the experiences of readers of Financial Mail, Santander's kneejerk response to any fraud is to suspect its own customer."
  • The persons post count adds or detracts nothing from the recommendation though does it?

Undoubtedly there are unhappy customers - something for Santander to sort out, but you can't knock their products at the moment.

Just a heads up to say I tried applying as an existing customer through topcashback, but hit an error as the Santander site wouldnt let me progress and kept asking for details of another bank account which I dont have.

Not sure if anyone else has had this, but the helpdesk advised that existing customers cannot apply untill Monday.

The annual fee, which depending on somebody's outgoings will impact on whether this account is good or bad for individual customers.

I can't believe anyone is considering using this bunch of incompetents for the sake of a few quid a month.

They managed to add my wife to my credit card account as a man and have absolutely refused to fix it.

My account with them is terminated.

Well there you go. I've been with them since the A&L takeover and never had an issue. Personally I cant believe some people give their contact infromation to a website in order to get a free teabag, but I guess its what this site is all about.
  • Quidco are offering £55 cashback to people who go through their website to create an account and get it accepted.

This will cover at least 2 years of the monthly fee.

Worth having a look if your thinking of setting up an account.

Yes, and also via TopCashBack (according to 1 of the posts above ;))
