Thanks for the link. I see under "comunications" (sic) the communications provider I was assured was eligible just yesterday by Santander is not, in fact, eligible.
..no such confusion over the £2/month deduction, however!

In case anyone applying in branch is told, as I was several times, that these cashbacks are "lifetime" perks, "not going to be withdrawn," etc., here is your pinch of salt from the T&Cs: "We may change these Specific Conditions including the eligible cashback categories, the rates of cashback or withdraw cashback by giving you no less than 60 days’ notice."

The point is that they aren't intended as limited offers. You will get the deal for as long as they are operating the deal.
As opposed to, for example, someone offering an interest free overdraft for a year. In a year's time you won't have an interest free overdraft any more but other new customers will.

Not the most constructive post I know but I would just avoid banking with Santander at all costs! Having changed to First Direct as my main account my stress levels are much reduced.

I think the person who mentioned trusting them with a 'blunt crayon' has more faith in them than me, I 'm struggling to think anything I would trust them with!
  • I Moved my account on Monday and have to say very impressed so far as have my cards through already including credit card. Daily mail interview with CEO of Santander looked good today and highlighted lloyds now worst on service which having come from lloyds I can certainly agree with

As a slight aside, that article is somewhat misleading in claiming that Lloyds is worst on customer service.

Lloyds Banking Group has significantly more customers than any other bank (since it's effectively two large banks under one umbrella). So you'd expect it to have more complaints.

If you look at it in terms of complaints per 1,000 customers, then it is Barclays and Natwest that have the highest levels, followed by Santander.

Don't think I've seen this mentioned yet, but TCB and Quidco are offering £55 cashback for opening this account (Quidco's offer is on until 18th March). Wahey!
  • Can any Santander employee on here tell me why TMobile is not recognised as an eligible 'Mobile' Supplier if I open this account?

Can any Santander employee on here tell me why TMobile is not recognised as an eligible 'Mobile' Supplier if I open this account?

All I found on their checker was:
    EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE T/A ORANGE
T/A presumably means "Trading as" Orange.

Yet "Orange" is already listed on their "comunications" (sic) section.

My direct debit to T-Mobile comes up as T-Mobile.

I guess if the T-Mobile originators ID's matches one of the above then you'd be ok.

There is definitely too much scope for aggravation with this account.
