Have just started selling properly on ebay. Have an item for auction that ends tonight. Started at 99p had 3 bids, 99p 1.04p and the last bid was £10 which was placed 5 days ago.
Was happy with the £10, however today with 10 hours 50 minutes the highest bidder has retracted their bid as they "entered wrong amount".
So now it's back down to 1.04!! How did it take him 5 days to realise he had entered wrong amount?
Had this person not pushed the bid up to £10 so early on then possibly other people would have been more inclined to bid. Am gutted as it cost £90 new and is still like new and it's too late for me to pull the auction!

I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Oh no, that sucks.

I hate bid retractions. I can't see why they're necessary, since you have to confirm your bid anyway. I think it would be fairer if they had to contact the seller to cancel.
I had someone make a bid retraction on one of my auctions a few months ago and it was obvious they'd only bidded to find out what the other persons highest bid was. Their feedback said they'd retracted something crazy like 57 bids in 6 months!!!:www: :: MFi3 ::

I think eBay says bid retractions for "wrong amount" should be done within about half an hour of the erroneous bid. I once missed out a decimal point by mistake, but I spotted it before I clicked the Confirm Bid button, and I couldn't imagine a bidder failing to notice something like that for several days.
There's still plenty of time for others to bid, so hopefully it will go OK.0 -

This person has 26 bid retractions over last 6 months (just had a snoop!)
Maybe they are in cahoots with bidder 2 so that they get the item for next to nothing! Or maybe they are number 2 on a second ebay account!
Sound paranoid now! Fair enough if they did enter wrong amount (did it myself once put in £4500 for a mirror instead of 45.00! Contacted the seller immediately, who removed it and I then put proper bid on). What I don't understand is why they waited 5 days before deciding they entered wrong amount!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

The retraction is also meant to be followed by the bidder placing the correct amount as a bid.
Some people make a hobby of this and imo they need the book thrown at them. Your bidder probably decided he could get the item elsewhere. My TV is broken!

Have you checked to see if this person is selling anything, perhaps same as you. Or another possibilty is that your current high bidder is the same person as person who pulled the bid or someone he/she knows in order to get the item cheap.
Check to see if this bidder has bid against the other bidders then.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0
