I wandered into a thread about newspapers earlier that was discussing money off tesco shops in newspapers.

One mentioned specifically was the point collecting in the Mail.

To collect £5 for tesco you have to spend £18 on the paper over the course of six weeks. It does not seem to make sense.

Does anyone do this? Am I missing something?

It's worth doing, if you buy that paper anyway, and some editions have other promotions too, as you'll see if you're reading the newspaper thread :) I tend to drop in there most days, to see what the offers are, either for myself, or to pass the info on to other friends/family.

When the point collecting first started, the first 5 tokens, gave you £5 back, so was certainly worth doing for that short period. I no longer do it, as it doesn't seem economic to me!

Once you have joined the scheme though, occasionally you do get mailed incentives to try to woo you back to collecting again. Sometimes there are bonus's, for instance, a free 6/12 tastecard recently.

Managed to find some 1p tesco dessert collection today, which will be nice to give to the nice nurses nursing my mum at the hospital.

Does anyone know if the cartons of wine gums, liquorice allsorts and maynards randoms are scanning as a penny as my store doesnt have working scanner?

Hi FloFlo, Randoms were scanning full price in my store but noticed after they had a easter type picture on the front, not sure if there were different ones at Christmas. There were 2 types of cartons I remember being mentioned for 1p but I have been so busy last couple days can't remember which they were. :o Hope I've been of some help.

bit tight with the farters eh HC .

Look out for the Northern Lights , I believe you'll get a good view from A'Dam .

Better view from Aberdeen for sure, my photographer friend in Dam has lived there for 62 years and never seen them.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

Does anyone know how much Tesco finest toblerone type chocolate is scanning at?..it's in a long rectangular dark coloured box. Just that this afternoon in store an assistant came and started emptying the shelf telling another customer 'that you can't buy them as too cheap'...there was no scanner in the store otherwise I would have scanned one to see how much.

I tried one on Friday, thought it would be cheap as there was 3 on the shelf in battered boxes but they scanned at £3 .
