    Budgeting loans are not being scrapped. Other aspects of Social Fund are but the budgeting loan will be staying.

    The maximum amounts are:

    single person £348
    couple £464
    Family £812

    I never said budgeting loans were being scrapped.

    Budgeting Loans will continue to be available until Universal Credit is fully rolled out. As people migrate across to Universal Credit they will have access to a new system of Budgeting Advances that will replace Budgeting Loans for Universal Credit recipients.

    That is taken from the DWP information page.

    I said that the Social Fund is being wound down.

    It is.

    And it is still unclear exactly what will replace the current scheme.

    My My what a state this has got into...........

    I note with interest how Uponahill like to sit in his/her high horse decrying people for wanting to take out a Social Fund Loan and insisting how everyone on benefits should live within their means and save at least £10 a week out of them. To avoid falling into the Social Fund Loan trap, he/she has sat up all night long repairing their washing machine which ran like clockwork for 22 years or more as a result..............
    Credit where credit is due, you are obviously far more versed with a spanner and hammer than I am, so well done to you:T:T

    You even noted somewhere about if your car broke down and you didn't have the money to fix it, then tough you do without, WELL DONE THAT MAN/WOMAN:T

    You preech about living within your means and we should all do the same:T

    You may not need or want a Social Fund loan, so that means none of us spendthrifts should have one either. However I also note that you comment about having a Motability Car......

    Would that be the one GIVEN to you by the Government??? The same one you no doubt claim the FREE Road Tax for???
    The same one that pays your INSURANCE and MAINTENANCE costs???
    The one YOU CLAIMED for that the Tax Payers pay for???

    Well no wonder you can afford to GO AWAY TWICE A YEAR, the rest of us have to pay for that ourselves, be it from earnings or benefit income.

    Why do you have this facility............ because you obviously qualify for it. The same as a lot of us qualify for Social Fund Budgeting Loans, so when you can live within your means and send your nice car back and do without the money, then come back and preech to the rest of us. Until then you know where you can go:T:rotfl:

    :rotfl:I have just read Uponahill's first thread they put on this site:rotfl:

    Why do people on here vilify benefit claimants so much?

    Hi, Firstly I am a long term poster on another site and a member of B&W as well as rightsnet.

    Whilst I have had some bits of good advice on here, this site is miles apart from the others.

    Over the past years I have had many problems with the DWP, all of which have been sorted thanks to other forums.

    Why is it that so many people on here are so unhelpful for people like me that wants to get as much in benefits as I can that I am entitled to?

    If I listened to some of the comments on here I would not be getting what I do already.

    If someone can reassure me that it is just me that has had a bad experience from this site, then I will ask questions. Much better to get two opinions than one.

    :TWhat a laugh, nothing like having more faces than the town hall clock:T

    Just remember everyone, we shouldn't be applying for Budgeting Loans, we should live within our means and not take advantage of the welfare state!

    Oh and here's another one from Uponahill in the same thread;

    Well, these replies just tell me that I was right.

    For those who have to claim benefits and have to come on sites like this to get information is travesty.

    Apart from the first two replies, the rest are clearly from people who seem to despise benefit claimants, yet post their verbal rubbish on a site that was specifically set up to provide good quality advice to those that need it.

    For the life of me I can't work out why they would do it. Surely if you can't help someone with a problem why post?

    I will not post or answer any further on here and will just let me account remain unused.

    It is so sad that some people feel the need to be so disgusting towards those who are vulnerable.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Well well well talk about double standards I should live within my means, save ten quid a week out of my benefits and not claim for a Budgeting Loan because I need to replace some household items.

    Instead I should take a leaf out of Uponahill's book and follow their lead;
    "Why is it that so many people on here are so unhelpful for people like me that wants to get as much in benefits as I can that I am entitled to?"

    Perhaps then maybe those of us that struggle could also run round in a fully paid for, fully maintained Motability car and go away twice a year on holiday.

    Alternatively I will carry on as I do thanks and use a budgeting loan (which I repay - its not a freebie) to help replace high end items when I need to because I would struggle to do so without it. It's not ideal granted but I will not stand being lectured by a bigot like Uponahill!!!!

    There is no 'entitlement' whatsoever, it is entirely at the discretion of the PWC.

    See above, same answer. There is absolutely no official entitlement whatsoever for a non-resident parent to receive any financial assistance from the Government, nor from child-related benefits that the PWC receives, even if that NRP has 50% responsibility.

    If the PWC says 'No', that is the official stance.

    How about attempting to claim CTC or maybe Family Allowance. It would put the stop on the one receiving it whilst the government sorted out who actually had 'Care'
    Play a little dirty and put pressure on the PWC.

    I hadn't heard that social fund loans were being got rid of, that will leave a lot of people with no means of obtaining loans other than loan sharks. This is terrible news.

    Credit union is one alternative.

    Another are websites like Freecycle, their offshoots like Freegle, Freeshare, Gumtree Freebies, plus furniture charities that donate furniture and household items to the needy or sell them cheaply.

    Where exactly, did I say that you said they were being scrapped? I didn't. I wasn't responding to your post at all. I was responding to the posts which followed yours, specifically Simon's where he said he hadn't heard that budgetng loans were being 'got rid of' - to reassure him that this wasn't the case.

    To add some further information, it is only the crisis loan and community care grant that is being scrapped in the very near future. The budget which is currently allocated to crisis loans and community care grants will be allocated to local authorities in 2013. It is they who will decide how they will allocate the funds and it isn't yet clear how they will do that. The Social fund budgeting loans, funeral payments and maternity grants will not be affected, not yet anyway. Once universal credit is rolled out, the budgeting loan will be looked at again. But it takes a hell of a long time to fully roll out a new benefit including the migration of existing claimants. ESA began in 2008 for new claims. It is only now that old IB and IS claims are being migrated.

    Family Allowance! Which decade are you living in? Also, I would suggest that your suggestion is a futile exercise.

    I thought rotoguys was andyandflo? Or is uponahill both of them? This sounds like very hard work!

    Anyway, Simon7685, I wish you the very best in getting whatever help you can get. I can't help with any useful info, but it sounds like you are having a very stressful time. I wish you well.

    xx
