A friend has put me in touch with someone who has pups. They are her family pets, both mother and father can be seen. The pups are only 10 days old at the moment and a £50 deposit secures them which is paid in person when the buyer goes to visit the puppies, they can then be visited as many times as the buyer wishes. The person has advised they get their 1st jag and their health check before they will be ready to go home.

What questions do I need to ask ? Does a health check usually include the hip scoring or do I need to ask for this aswell?

How old is the mum and dad?
How many litters they had together?
Why are they being breed together?
Do they both have pedigree papers/KC registration?
    Are they both hip scored?
    What are they being fed?

Oh my that dog is beautiful.

Another breeder is in my area, I got the details from the KC website and it says pups ready soon, not sure if they mean ready to be born or go. Have sent for for some info.

I'm in Scotland and can travel a reasonable distance within Scotland.

Papers wise, if being without papers doesn't mean anything to do with the dogs health then I wouldn't mind not having them, not going to show the dog or be boasting about its KC status but if you think it's important that a dog has papers then let me know why this is so that I can be aware of it.

    Thanks.

I need to look up on hip scoring, I know its really important but not really sure what is it. Does this usually get done in the vet health check or is it a specialist check?

Zara - the one on photos with cats - has no papers, I got her at 16 weeks old from Gumtree.

Diagnosed 2 years ago with hips displasia and arthritis... it is important to have hip scores of the parents, less chance of the pup developing problems......

If you do nto mind me askingm how much they want for those pups?

I paid £300 for Zara, she will be 6 years old in August this year

The first ones I mention are wanting £350 with a £50 deposit. Second lot I haven't received a reply yet, it stated £POA.

Expect to pay around £600 + for a GS from a proper breeder.. price could give you a clue here .. a bit....

Being honest, I have no idea what price is a good price and what is not. They seem to range anything from £250-£700. Does price always mean a better dog?

Don't want to make any mistakes, hopefully I am not annoying anyone with all the questions but it's really important to me
