Is It Safe To Eat Raw Baby Button Mushrooms?

Thinking of throwing them in my salad for lunch today, just unsure whether i can eat them raw or whether I should roast them.

any ideas?

This made me laugh, as the title appeared as 'Is it safe to eat raw baby...'

I've eaten them raw quite safely, washed and peeled, but not for a while. i'm much fussier these days with so many scares on the go. You could sear them under the grill or something with a bit of olive oil. mmmm, sounds nice.

oh no dont wash em lol
they will soak up water and make your salad all soggy ><

a rub with kitchen towel to remove any dirt will sufice,,,,

If I was good as a kid, and probably to keep me quiet, my Mother would buy me a quarter of mushrooms to eat raw while we walked around town. Still love them now, cooked or raw, I don't mind.

I never wash (urgh! makes 'em go slimy) or peel (life is too short!) mushrooms, just brush off any visible compost and either eat raw or cook them and I've never come to any harm

Im sure its safe i too have been doing this for years as has DD, its the only way she will eat them..

Cook them in a bit of garlic butter for just a couple of minutes and then add them to a salad Mmmm.
