As Martin says in his credit card article, it isn't just risk, it is also profitability. Just because you're good with money doesn't mean that they have to make you a customer. If those other credit cards were all balance transfer and then closed when the free period was up, it will tell them what sort of customer you might be and they may have decided for that reason that they don't want you.

Id imagine it was for this reason.

None of the other cards were balance transfer cards. THey were all 0% purchase cards for 12 months and when the 12 months is up i close it and move on (similar to what im trying to do now)

Ive never transfered a balnace between CC - just payed them up and closed it down when introductory period is up.

Decided to screw Halifax, couldnt be bothered with the appeals department so this morning i applied for the Barclays Platinum card at 14 months 0% purchases and got accepted straight away with a £3500 limit.

Just bugged me yesterday that im ok for Halifax to let me bank with them to earn interest off me but not good enough for them to give me anything back.

    Hey ho, on we go.

    Thanks for all advice

Maybe you should just vote with your feet?

FWIW I was also refused a Halifax card last year. After I filled in an online complaint I was granted one with a good credit limit and lowest APR.
