Been refused Halifax Credit Card - what to do?

Hello,
I have just been refused my application for a Halifax All in One Credit card.
I will provide as much info as i can:
2010-2011 Virgin - Settled and closed - £3000 limit
2009-2010 Tesco - settled and closed - £3000 limit
2008-2009 Halifax - settles and closed - £1600 limit
Never been refused any type of credit
I think Halifax just dont like me as when i moved the current account from Santander they said i needed to applt for their complimentary fee free overdraft to cover any direct debits that come out before the balanace has been transfered but they also rejected this and said they can open the account but cannot give me an overdraft.
What can they possibly not like apart from im too good with money and no credit card company in the last 4 years has ever been paid a penny intertest from me as its always paid up wach month!?
Could it be because i have only been with my current bank account for 3 months and there is no such history to check?
Should i apply to another CC company but give them my Santander bank account rather than my current Halifax one?
Shall i apply same day or leave it a few days/weeks?
Really dont know what to do.
Quite angry with Halifax really.
Thankyou for any help.

The only things that jump out are a limited credit history (less than a year of using credit cards) and no other evidence of how well you can handle credit (eg previous loans). Give it 6 months and try again, now that your current account is with them.0

I have had credit cards since 2008.
Im not tied to Halifax, i want a good 0% purchase offer- Do i have to wait 6 months to apply to another lender?0 -
oh - also brought something on finance in July 2008 using Creation Consumer Finance for £399 interest free for 12 months which was paid on time and settled within the period0

We're you denied online. I applied online for this card and was declined. Like you I look I knew my credit history was good, if not excellent, so I looked into my credit history. The only thing I could see as a problem was I wasn't in the electoral role for the current property. I spoke to somebody at the Personal lending department to ask why it was declined but the response I got was 'it's been declined by our systems but I can't tell you why. If you wanted to appeal then sent a letter with credit score information'. I then spoke to somebody in branch and they chased it up for me. An hour or so later I got a call back from the person in the branch to say it was going through now. Days later, maybe 7, I received my card.
Maybe it's worth trying this line.0 -

As Martin says in his credit card article, it isn't just risk, it is also profitability. Just because you're good with money doesn't mean that they have to make you a customer. If those other credit cards were all balance transfer and then closed when the free period was up, it will tell them what sort of customer you might be and they may have decided for that reason that they don't want you.0 -
Are you on the electoral roll? Is you wifes credit good? You will be associated so her credit can affect yours.0
-
Do like I do with a decline, send in an appeal with copies of -
- 3 months payslips
- 3 months bank statements (assume they're too lazy to look it up)
- Any investment certificates
- A letter telling them how financially stable you are e.g. the summary you've outlined above
I successfully appealed CoOp Gold card decline and currently awaiting another (Cap One).
If you don't appeal, I think personally it's just a wasted search of your file..Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -

They turned me down for the 0% one a while back (wanted to do a bit of stoozing) depite the fact, I'd paid my mortgage off with them early, my barclay card is paid in full every month & at the time had about £20k in savings with Halifax. Guess I just wasn't 'profitable' enough0
