The usage levels actually look OK to me. It's unfortunate with the winter billing date this year as it covers all the 3.5 winter months exactly where last year winter had been split over 2 billing periods and each billing period was slightly shorter. You have also had a tariff change from SOL4 (which expired 15th Jan 2012) to EOL which will also make a big difference.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

That is really helpful, thanks. I can see what you mean about the billing dates etc, and will speak to eon about the new tariff and see if they can better it (she says laughing!). I found it reassuring to know you thing the usage levels seem ok. I'll keep a close eye on things now and take my finger off the panic button! Thanks so much.

annie7179 - As already posted, your numbers are a bit difficult to work out what you are using a year.

However using the Kwh figures from 12 Jan 11 - 29 Feb 12 which is a period of 414 days, you consumed 3484 Kwh of Elec and 25,664 Kwh of Gas.
Converting this to 365 Days gives an Annual consumption of 3072 Kwh Elec, which is quite low for a family household.
But the Gas converts to 22,626 Kwh, which is high.

There may good reasons why your house, size of family and lifestyle consume a lot of Gas, but on the face of it, Low Elec consumption and High Gas consumption is something of an anomaly, so it would be of help if you posted broad details of your type of house, it's insulation and size of family

    Hi annie7179

I’m sorry to come in a little late on this one, looks like you’ve got things covered :)

Just to reiterate what’s been said by the forum regulars.

Your Energy Tracker graph online serves as a guide to your overall use and its seasonality. It should not be treated as an accurate comparison for one year against the next.

Having your Smart meter fitted will help make this more accurate but the meter change itself can interfere with the figures on the graph.

This doesn’t alter the fact that you’ve had such an unusually high winter bill from us, as HappyMJ said it does seem to cover an extended period following your meter change, so do check the meter readings.

There ought to be a sticker on the new meter that tells you what the readings were when the old meter(s) were removed.

As six weeks of the bill is on EnergyOnline which is at least 4% more expensive than SaveOnline 4, you should definitely call us to discuss a new plan :)

Hope this helps a little Annie, let me know if you need any more information.

Don't forget that there has been a substantial increase in unit prices over the last 12m. So reduced consumption can still result in a higher bill. What you need to focus on is your annual comparative kWh usage for each fuel.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
