No buying unnecessary toiletries in March - Challenge

I did not look at the Clinique freebies, so not sure what the moisture surge offer was. When I used to use the pink gel type one, I used to layer it over moisturiser to lock the moisture in, I also used the spray, both left my dry skin well plumped, I only stopped using it when I started experimenting with Elemis and Gatineau as I got older. It is great on neck and back of hands too.
Yeah, it's the pink gel type one. It feels ok when it goes on but it's when it dries that it makes my skin feel tight again. Layering sounds like too much faff when I can just use one moisturiser that I like.Although I usually find I need to add a couple of layers. I've heard skin often gets drier as you get older - I hope not as I'm 23 and mine's dry enough as it is.
I am very jealous of anyone with a Philosophy stash! Amazing Grace is one of my favourite fragrances ever and I have the EDT right now. Now that Boots stocks it, I might keep an eye on it for offers that I can use my advantage points on. No shower gels until I use up the Body Shop ones first! I also have a Clean on Me in use but when I finish the S&G body butter, I'll switch to something else for a change.0 -

Ha, it's not so much a Philosophy stash as a Philosophy store at this pointI should invite people to shop at my house rather than Boots :rotfl:

Can't believe how much hand cream I have in the house! Rather than buying small squeezy hand-creams suitable for putting in a handbag as I was in the habit of doing, I have found small lotion bottle (from some hotel sometime in the past). Today having finished off my last handbag one (I know, I bet you've all been doing this for years) I refilled the hotel lotion bottle from one of my larger bottles of handcream. Evening ladies,
Have been awol for the last week so had a few pages to catch up on!
Chester has a fairly impressive Boots but the Superdrug is surprisingly small and tucked away down a side street. Also watch out for Space.NK, L'Occitane, Molton Brown, Browns etc (although if you managed to dodge the outlet shops at Cheshire Oaks, I'm sure you'll be fine)
Ooh, am so excited, am flying over tomorrow!I
The IN is Aldi Lacura serum. I was in Aldi buying wine (also recommended) and succumbed. It was a cheap thrill for £3.99. Haven't tried it yet, actually not sure what serums are supposed to do. I hope I'm not backsliding!
I have a few INs:
The above mentioned Lacura hand peeling, 50% off (actually, do you even say hand peeling in English? I think it's another example of the German language stealing expressions & trying to sound cool.)
Kneipp products: Revitalising bath oil & fizzy bath tablet, both on the clearance shelf so would have been rude to leave......
OUTs:
Unnamed bath salts, a present from SIL.
Lacura night cream, have already replaced with the next one from my stash. Think this is on its way to becoming a HG product.
Müller shea butter handcream, OH was using this. A good product at a good price, not no more handcreams here for the moment.
I expect a few more INs later in the week due to my imminent UK trip........

Checking in on a Saturday evening and catching up on everyone's UUs. I spent the day in London, specifically getting to Camden Town post office and then waiting there, to be able to give my biometric details (fingerprints and photo), for my work permit renewal. As an 'adopted Essex girl', I must admit, the jam-packed crowds of London frighten me. Although I managed the train to tube trip just fine and everyone was very nice at the post office. Despite the extra post office fees it's less stressful than venturing out to my closest government office in Croydon, which was the other option, which would have caused me to lose a day of work since they are not open on Saturdays.
I had an hour to 2 hours of waiting time so I ventured out to Boots and got an Advantage card number, thanks to seeing all the postings here on that topic of Advantage points. And I am well-pleased that I bought nothing at Boots. :A
Helen1971 - I was sitting here thinking that 'spackle' was the British word for eye shadow having seen a few posts like 'waterproof eye spackle' and 'absolutely cannot live without spackle'. Sheesh, thanks for your post!
hanval - I love the Germanized English. Having lived in Germany for five years, I would be curious and sometimes fascinated by what words came over, like 'Peel'. If anyone else wants a glimpse, check out this German pharmacy site, and look for the English words:
http://www.dom-apotheke-koeln.de/dom-kosmetik.html
(Scroll down a little and look for the red headings.) 'Anti-Tox!' I imagine it's similar to how we import French words into English to sound fancy.
1 UU - Palmolive Antibacterial-plus handwash.
WBA, I love this item, not only the smell but also the turquoise colour matches my bathroom.I had stopped using it for a month in Nov/Dec and came down with a wicked flu after, so mentually I have strong faith in it (whether or not it's justified?!), in the bathroom. However, as flu season is over, am being MSE and reusing moisturizing bodywash in the container instead.
1 UU - declaring in advance, for later tonight: Radox Muscle Therapy with Black Pepper & Ginseng, WNBA.
This was another freebie from my friend moving abroad. I love Radox products, this should be a-ok. However, I found its red colour to be unnerving. The first time I used it, the bath went a pinkish/red, and it reminded me of a crime scene from CSI, almost blood red. (Yes, maybe an overactive imagination!) Before making it a TA as 3/4 was left, I decided to try a little 'Yankee Ingenuity' (American slang for 'cheapness disguised via cleverness' or 'improvising and self-reliance'--am thinking that term has not made it to the UK?) and I mixed 50% of the red radox with 50% of a blue one I had at hand. The water went a delightful lavender, the scent is still 'radox lovely', bubbles galore, all is good. I had to add water to the bottle this week, so tonight will get the few remaining dregs, along with a glass of wine and some candles, to relax after a stressful London day!
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!0 -
Hi everyone
Not posted for weeks been busy with trying to sell the house and it is all consuming at the moment!
Had a no spend month last month but UU's are slow - everything seems to be a LHJ.
One UU for march so far though
Bliss eye cream -WIBA no nothing special and I thing that particular cream has been discontinued. On to Decleor Hydrotensor and see how I get on with this.
Will probably get some toiletries this month though with mothers day and my birthday as well this month. Will report any additions to my stash:o
Going back to catch up on the thread now!0 -

L'occitane hand cream (travel size) - So sad to finish this as it's my fav hand lotion. No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries Challenge
TOTAL UU's in 2012: 588
Total UU's in 2013: 210

had a sort through my makeup and I've now made a small basket of things I need to use up. I've also realised I have more than enough eyeliners and need to start using foundation samples. Which lead to a TA:
Avon face pearls- WNBA- I've had these for at least 2 years and hardly used them, can't pick up anything with a brush because they are little pearls and mostly shimmer at that. Decided I have too many blushers (mainly bourjois- which I can't seem to get the hang of -and benefit thrrrob which is too pale for my skin, but is too expensive to throw away.) After trying a MAC blusher, I've decided to stick to these, even if they are more expensive, cheaper blushers seem to be a false economy.
MAC blush works out £2.42 per g (refill pan) and Bourjois blusher £2.97 per g:eek:Toiletry spend £34.95 In: 10 out:130 -

a lush Big Blue bath bomb- it was very nice and pampering but i think there was too much sea weed
An avon planet spa warming face mask- WNBA as I didn't feel it doing anything- it warmed up, yes, but didn't impact on my skin, if you know what I mean?0
