This means that on the 17th of Feb they bill me for my rental for 17th Feb - 16th Mar and for all extra chrages for 17th Jan - 16th Feb. Then they take the payment on the 2nd of Mar.
As simple as that. In advance doesn't necessarily mean on the first day of the billing month.

Just check your bill thoroughly, first time in many years, before keeping arguing any further.

Oh I clearly don't get it then. Which isn't a crime BTW...

I get a bill by email on the 11th of the month. I have to have paid it by the 25th of the month. I usually pay on the 25th, or just before if the 25th is a weekend (I pay by card online).

The line rental I had paid (in advance- their words, not mine), has now been refunded and the early termination charge (for pretty much the same amount) remains. I'm glad my rental was only £7 a month! (£46 a month for one phone!?????)

Thought i'd update with the outcome!

Having looked through old bills around port time - i've never had this charged before - but i see the reasons for it now, so thanks for the input.
