REISS poor quality clothing

  • I've checked the label and its actually denim. It doesn't look like denim and I have jeans that are denim and don't crease anything like this. I accept that fabrics crease through wear but this is unlike anything I've ever seen or worn before - trust me when I say I would need it re-ironing every 10 minutes to avoid looking like a used dishcloth. Frankly, wether linen is sought after or not I haven't paid £200 to look awful! For this reason I am trying to return it to no avail...

it may be denim but what is the fibre composition ? what does the label actually say? there should be a percentage and a fibre such as '100% linen' or '67% cotton 30% polyester 3% elastane' something like that...Look on the inside of the garment for this label, it's usually on a side seam

  • It says 100% cotton. So, is this why it creases so easily? I have other clothes that are 100% cotton and they don't crease like this. All very odd and I don't understand why it looks so bad as it looks amazing when it is ironed; its just a shame it doesn't stay that way or I would have gladly kept it. Aside from the material I've looked at their web site and they state that 'free delivery and returns for a limited time only'. So, they take returns online but not instore for the same item of clothing. I'm penalised for shopping in their stores - great!

Yeah, online shopping is covered by the distance selling regulations, which are designed to make up for the fact you could not inspect the goods in store, face to face. It is why they offer online returns, but not shop ones (as you had a chance to inspect the goods there and then).

Denim, 10p0% cotton - looks like your only option now is to threaten court if they won't listen any other way. Will the judge agree with you or them? Only one way to find out, but the threat of court may make them take your case more seriously?

They have examined the jacket and state they can find nothing wrong with it, so I ask for them to resell it and they refuse saying its been worn. I point out to them its been worn 10 minutes and it looks creased and awful (hence unsellable) and this is the reason I am returning it. As well as being unsellable it is unwearable - I don't wan't to be seen looking like a used teabag in their clothing as it is sub-standard and not fit for purpose.

I am now trying to get my money back through my credit card as it should be covered under section 75 consumer credit act 1974 (see another thread in MSE).

Honestly, I think the best thing to do is never shop there again and simply warn others not to experience the medley of despair that is REISS.

If it creases that quickly and the quality of it is questionable, then I can't understand how you didn't notice this in the shop at the time? Did you not try it on and give it a bit of a try in the shop? If I was spending £200 on a jacket I'd make sure it was what I wanted...

That's probably why Reiss aren't that bothered about refunding you as surely they'll just say you knew what you were buying?

I went shopping with my Ozzie sister in law years ago and she would scrunch clothing to see how it creased. I have done this ever since...I don't buy if it is horrendously creased following scrunch, it is easy to check if you have the opportunity to try before you buy....difference is mail order when you cannot test the fabric
  • bought several items from reiss. Design great, quality always very poor. Buttons fall off, shape is lost, and material often like cardboard. Don't buy from reiss until they get it together!
