Ok... i've boiled my choices down to these 2 packages...
Sony S700i upgrade on o2online - £29.99 for phone and £20pm for 500 offpeak mins and 500 texts = £270 for year
or...
Motorola A1000 on 3 - free phone and £20pm for 750 xnet anytime minutes and 150 texts = £240 for year
I prefer the S700i as a phone but the non anytime xnet minutes is a bit of a put off.
what do you think?

Would have thought there'll be plenty of better deals on the Motorola a1000 on 3 - it depends if you need the peak time minutes.

Have a look at this offer on 3 from E2save. It would cost you £110 for the year. Minutes are cross-net too:
