PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

You complain to the bank, if they reject, you can refer to the ombudsman (actually an adjudicator), if they reject you can refer to the ombudsman - that also works for the bank in the same way - they can reject an adjudicator decision and refer to the ombudsman, it's a fair 2 way street if the bank feel the adjudicator has made a mistake.
The FOS front line staff tell everyone they have a case even when they almost certainly don't (e.g. a pre-regulation sale).
If you advise what your complaint reasons were, what evidence you presented etc then people might be able to advise why the bank disputed it (yes a large sum to pay out might be a trigger but if they equally genuinely feel it was not miss-sold they can fight it - e.g. if your husband signed a form saying he wanted it).Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

HI, hope I am doing this right!..back in 1989/90 we purchased 2 new vehicles from Toyota, I have tried to get the details of the finance company from Toyota but they say they cannot help and I should check our bank statements but I do not have them from 26 years ago. I would like to check if we can make a PPI claim but need the name of the finance company. Could anyone offer any advice please on how to find these details and...are we out of the time frame for claims? many thanks,0

Most car dealers were not regulated until early 2005. Therefore any complaint you might make would be rejected on that basis.
You don't need the name of the finance company to complain of mis-selling because any such complaint should be directed at the seller of the insurance (the car dealer) rather than the provider.
In addition, if you don't have any documentary evidence of this PPI it's unlikely anyone else will after 26 years.
Looks like a dead duck before you start.0 -
Hi I wonder if anyone can help me.
I have just used a PPI claim company and they were successful. However to my disappointment they sent me an invoice for 30% of the money they have successfully claimed along with 20 per cent VAT. I put the cheque I received into my bank and every day since putting the cheque into my bank for it to clear they have been phoning up pestering me for their fee, managed to get my email address and phoning my mobile constantly. I told them I am waiting for the cheque to clear. It has been an awful intrusion. I have an 8 month old baby and the phone does not stop calling. I feel there fees are so very high too. Is there anything I can do.. would I be able to do a deal do you think to get their fees lowered. I would never use this company again. Really would like some help and advice. I am new to this forum.0 -

Sadly CMCs are vultures and will hound you to death if you don't pay their bills. With the end of PPI claiming now set there is little chance they will reduce their bill as they can see their cash cow heading for the slaughterhouse.
Their Ts & Cs will show their quoted fee excludes VAT which is added on.
You can complain to them about their behaviour (keep a record of all the calls, times etc) - email them them addressing it as a complaint and CC their ombudsman in

Hi,I've just submitted a question but not sure if I put it in the correct forum? In 2011 Imade a claim to CAPITAL One about reclaiming PPI but was rejected. I had been paying it for over 7 years and felt it was mis-sold to me. After being rejected I was about to take it to the FOS but had a close family bereavement which left me in turmoil. I recently asked CAPITAL One to look at it again and sent them another claim form. I have today received a letter from them saying that they will not look at it again as its more than 6 months and the FOS will not help as its more than 6 months. Can anyone advise on whether it is worth going to the FOS?0

When I bought my property back in 2010, I was given Mortgage Payment Protection through Connells Estate Agents (also known as Wessex Gate). I have looked into the paperwork and it looks like it is payment protection if my husband and/or I became ill/unable to work.
Does anyone have any other information regarding this type of policy and whether anyone has claimed it back?
I believe we paid the monthly fee for at least three-four years.
I am new to this PPI claiming, so sorry if I am asking stupid questions.
Thanks in advance.0 -
No idea who I'm replying to. If it is someone called MSE Rose, how do I post my actual question? Can't make head nor tail of the advice on here.0
