Can anyone suggest a reputable PPI reclaim firm?

No. Recommending in a shiny turd doesnt change what they are.
At this point in my life I had a break down and so I remember very few details of which banks were charging me what or even which banks I used and I have no documentation.

if you cant tell a CMC who you were with, they cant find out as the data is not in the public domain.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

Thanks for the input dunstonh. It is true, most of them have a bad rep, I was hoping someone might be able to suggest one that is not as bad as the rest.

You get 8% simple interest on a loan however on a credit card is is different.

    CREDIT CARDS

    1. Where card account and the PPI are still in force.

If the consumer agrees to cancellation of the PPI the financial business should:

    a) reconstruct the account by removing any premiums in respect of the PPI and any interest or charges in respect of those premiums;
    b) if that produces a credit balance for any period, credit interest on that balance for that period at 8% simple per year; and
    c) send the customer a statement showing the resulting balance on the account (with details of how it was calculated).

    a) above is very interesting ? especially the reference to interest !
How much interest is paid on a PPI premium of £18.50 from 2001 ?

I had a PPI complaint rejected in 2012 for 2 loans by Lloyds but they called me two weeks ago to say they were reinvestigating it and I answered all the questions the needed to ask me (the same ones they asked in 2012), does any one know how long this should take? I called yesterday and they said they were still investigating

I'm so impatient but I'm waiting to pay 2k off my credit card and am waiting to see if I get anything from this so I can pay it off my card

I had a similar situation with HSBC over a CC PPi claim a couple of years ago and they got back to me with an offer within four weeks if my memory serves me right after phoning me up out of the blue when they originally rejected my first claim.
    Fingers crossed for you. :)

I would suggest you make appointments with the banks you think you had the cards/direct debits/accounts with taking any information you have and they should be able to tell you if you had any sort of financial account/dealing with them.

Failing that make an appointment with citizens advice and they may be able to point you in the right direction

Hope they get in touch soon, have no idea why they contacted me tho cause they had asked me all the same questions when I originally complained in 2012 so should have all the info from that, they didn't ask anything different this time!
  • I received a letter stating my PPI claim has been successful 6th May 2015, and I would receive full payment direct to myself by cheque within 15 days. I needn't do anything, the cheque would arrive. Capital One included the following statement in the letter
"By accepting the redress you are confirming that you will not take any further action against Capital One in relation to the PPI policy and related issues that were the subject matter of this complaint"

However its now 19th July 2015, a full 11 weeks after the success letter was sent and no payment has been received, so I am now completing an Ombudsman form and will push for both the PPI compensation as well as compensation for the non stop daily/nightly/middle of the night phone calls to myself and every member of my family they could find a telephone number for at the time type harassment endured over a 7 year period.

Had they paid out, I wouldn't of had to do this, but since they contradicted their own statement above by not paying out.. I feel I am left with no choice.

Hi all, just a quick question please. I successfully claimed back some PPI from Tesco bank a few years ago. I initially wrote Tesco a letter and they rejected the complaint, only for it to be upheld by the Ombudsman. Great news!

I've since found out that I had PPI on another policy with another financial institution and want to submit a claim to them as well.

My question is, do I simply write them a letter, telling them why I think I was mis-sold, along with a copy of the paperwork, or do I need to fill out the PPI Consumer Questionnaire form which Martin links to in his article? It seems very indepth and I must admit I can't recall all the answers, like what the loan was for at the time, only that I'm sure we didn't discuss whether I needed PPI at the time or consider the provisions in place at work to cover any time off sick.

    Grateful for your help.

    Many thanks. :T
