Thank you Duchess and I fully intend to make a fuss.
My husband died and to cut a long story short I must have found somebody with a soul there and this is what they agreed to.0 -
Hi Fergie. Do you know how the payment was taken? If it was via direct debit you should be entitled to a full and immediate refund under the Direct Debit Guarantee. If they have used a debit card to take the payment it may prove more difficult - although not impossible.
Hope you also consider a formal complaint. If the original loan was of the payday variety you should also let the OFT know (they are currently investigating this market)

Thank you very much for your response. It was by Debit Card. Would I file a formal complaint through yourselves or directly with the FSA etc.
Edit:
Just saw your links...thank you0 -
they have breached your agreement then and you def should keep up the calls.
I'm pleased to see the debtline rep give you some options and I will keep my fingers crossed that you get some resolution asap0 -
Duchess you will learn rather quickly around here....hugs and sympathy does not float my boat.
People know they are playing with fire and we on here know that they empty accounts at every opportunity they get as i dont blame them as someone has not lived up to their side of the bargain..
People go to these sharks and then are left bewildered when the sharks bite them back..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thanks Duchess.
Geoff as mentioned earlier I have kept to my side of the bargain. We had an agreement which I have stuck to0 -
fergie what i am getting at is you have not paid them as first agreed...you are not dealing with banks here and these lot have every trick in the book to get thier money back because as you can imagine a lot of times someone rolls up borrows £500 and promises the earth to them but does a runner and will not answer the texts or phone...what should they do?
It must be remembered that in reality we are dealing with loan sharks here...
i wish you well..

Listen it was only ever my intention to ask for advice but I really appreciate the sympathetic stance Duchess has taken. I am where I am with this and due to circumstances I stupidly took this loan but have never broken any agreement with them.
All constructive advice is greatly appreciated.0 -
Anyway..quick update.
I became a bit of a pain to the Money Shop yesterday and I think I have now spoken to every employee. I received an e-mail today - after sending several quotes from OFT about their current investigations - stating that I will get a call before 1pm (great).
I replied that I hope so as I am ringing their children's charity Starlight at 1.30pm to discuss the kind of company they receive donations off. Robbing the food from one set of children's mouths to donate to others.
Off to the press after this.
Keeping busy but no real results yet although yesterday's debits are still showing as coming off my balance although not taken yet apart from the contractual £25 which is fair enough x
NB. Please do not read this as a dispute in any way, shape or form with Starlight who are a wonderful charity in every way. I just want them to know who they are dealing with when they are in the press accepting cheques from them0 -
good luck, hope your luck improves.
keep your chin up whatever happens xfind a deal....pass it on :beer:0
