I agree with other posts - tell the seller to stick it and look elsewhere. I'm buying a house for £15,000 below asking price so don't pay the asking price - its a buyers market.
My offer for another house was turned down greedily and I'm pleased to noticed that the house is still on the market today (4 months later!) - serve them right - must be getting desperate now!No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
Estate agent got back to me on Saturday the vendor has reduced the asking price by £1000. I've acepted that.
Its going to cost me £100 to make up the difference for the work required. AND im also not losing my valution or survey fees. AND thanks to gordon brown im saving stamp duty as well!
Thanks for all the advice everyone!

That's great news. Glad to see that he saw the light!
I hope that the rest of the transaction goes smoothly (and quickly!!)."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Good dealings.... I'm tempted to say you could have squeezed the seller for another grand... made him sweat..;)
Anway a grand is a grand !0 -
A deal goes ahead when both parties reach the win/win situation and if BOTH parties feel this the deal is done,
I know another grand would be nice but the vendor has held out his hand and the buyer has shaken it, to ask again would defeat the object and the vendor would not gain so the deal would be off,
You have done very well to negotiate to this point.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0 -
Great job ! Make sure you still get the curtains though !To infinity and beyond!0

Now you need to wait until a couple of days before completion and then reduce your offer by another £5k....0
