Need to sell an old Mercedes

Hi all
I was wondering if you can help. My family has a Mercedes E200 (1995 - M Reg) which we need to get rid of. It's been in the family since it was 6 months old but is no longer used as people have moved on/bought new cars etc. It has been parked on the driveway for close to two years and is taking up a valuable parking spot. It is (obviously) untaxed and uninsured. Mechanically there is nothing wrong with the car and it still (well when I drove it last) drives like a dream. I have advertised it at about £700 but we have had no interest at all!
Can anyone suggest a way of shifting it? Would webuyanycar be the best option?

While it may be old, that shape of Merc is favoured over its successor in terms of build quality, reliability and resistance to tinworm. If however it is just an E200 with manual gearbox and cloth interior and a dull colour, it probably is more of a banger in terms of price.
If it is a better spec. and has been sitting, it may be better having it MOT'd, polish it up taking lots of good quality pictures and, with that history, Autotrader it at £750.0 -
if you want the honest advice its scrap ,unwanted and up your drive
get a local company elv registered to remove it for you and get the destruction certificate for it0 -
Where do you live and what's the spec? Also what's the chassis code? W124 or W210?
Also, in answer to one of your other questions, webuyanycar.con are never the best option unless you really can't be bothered to put any time into this.0 -
Thanks for the reply. It’s an E200 Auto, cloth seats and is in black. I believe it’s the W124 code but the later model (the one with the silver strip just above the number plate). It’s got a few bumps and scrapes on it now and someone recently smashed the back quarter glass. I'm not sure it is economically viable to get the window replaced, the car MOT'd and then get a new battery. It will cost quite a bit and I don’t think I'd get a return on it. BTW I am in South London.0

Try advertising it in the classic car weekly newspaper-style magazines, e.g Classic Car Weekly, Classic Car Buyer."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Get it shipped abroad. they love em!
Beyond that, You should get £200+ scrap value so maybe rob a few nice bits out (if it has any) and ebay those with someone coming for the shell.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Scrap it? I did suggest that but my FIL got very defensive! It's his pride and joy - his baby. But, yeah, I'll run it past him again, he may waver now and give in!0 -
Worth taking a couple of pics and putting on one of the two uk MB forums, if anyone is interested in that particular model you will find them there.
Pity its been vandalised that's hit the value.0 -

Thanks, I will try that.0 -
stick it on eBay at £200 starting price, which is what you'd get scrap value.
it will fetch 500+ easily. I broke a E200 estate recently and made over £1500 in parts but it takes a bit of time and you have a dismantled car on the driveway.GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0
