Ebay changes in March

Why don't eBay do like Amazon marketplace and answer buyers a question saying "Did your item arrive by XXXXX?" if yes then it's automatic 5*, if not then the buyer can choose a rating based on things like the post mark date.
I once had a buyer who selected 2nd class, when I also offered 1st class as an option, and he received the item within the expected delivery time but sent me messages complaining about his poor boy having to wait for so long for his game. The game being a 15 certificate Playstation game - hardly an item to buy for a boy who wouldn't be able to manage with waiting a few days.0 -
It doesn't really ruin it - it just means you don't get the 5* automatically. If a message gets sent then you will be no worse off than now.
I never used the discount in profit calcs either. I've always seen it as a bonus that could disappear and never relied on it. I'd prefer not to lose it but its not the end of the world.
I entirely agree with the sentiment here. But people will now see it as an entitlement and feel they are being 'penalised'.. One of the decent sellers on the Community boards threw his dummy out of the pram about it, for instance.

Well the cut in TRS discounts means that I won't be giving free post any longer just so that I can hold onto my TRS.
Every change that they make seems to make life harder for sellers. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

Check out the difference between eBay's ETAs and Amazon's. Do you really want eBay to count 'no' against you each time 1st Class is longer than 2 days or Airmail to ROTW is longer than 3 working days?In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Decent sellers who bring in the money are getting the shaft again with the fees. They're upping the FVF in the computing and other categories for businesses by 66%.0

I'll probably just stop selling then, if this is the case.
What would they rather, 100 of the 16p per item that I sell now, or 0% of the 48p they'd get if they raised the fee?
Pile em high, sell em cheap.
Not, Pile em high, sell em expensive, and sell nothing.0 -

I tend to agree. Although I don't do free postage I tend to bend over backwards to make sure I keep my buyers super happy. Things like running out to the Post Office late in the afternoon, having already been once because a buyer BINS something and asks if i can send it immediately . Or giving big postage discounts because they buy multiple items, even if it would be cheaper to send everything seperately (some of my items go as a large letter but 2 make them go as a packet).
I am only a bronze PS and don't have enough turnover to get to silver, so I currently get 20% disoount which will go down to 10%.
20% is a nice little amount and worth trying that extra push to keep, 10% doesn't really feel enough to put myself out for.
Obviously I won't turn into a bad seller, just one that doesn't stress quite so much about jumping when the buyer says boo.
My 'off' ebay business is picking up as well, I'm getting requests every week now for things that I know I can source but haven't put on ebay, so whilst I don't sell the sort of stock that people would google for, I do feel that a standalone webpage where I can send people that make enquries might be the way forward for extra sales.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I agree Soolin, and think this latest round of changes will spur me into looking into non-ebay selling, Amazon, website etc. I too am a bronze PS and TRS and 10% of what I pay really isn't worth the effort.
Like you, I won't turn into a bad seller, but won't be doing anything over and above what is expected from me.
I have just run my latest DSR report and two people have left me 3 stars across the board, despite me meeting every criteria for 5 stars. I really think Ebay would be better in educating buyers what the stars mean as I think lots of them think 3 stars is an average Ok score.
And as for the new automatic 5* communication rules .....You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
