a few years back my first claim with dla i was told i had fibro, was so bad i quit work, usual problems that fibro sufferers have so need to repeat to you, you'll only nod and know.

Yes you can claim dla, you don't need to wait for diagnosis, we only find this out after we do doh!

since then the fibro turned to MS or fibro and MS the consultants dont seem to know, but mine i guess was bad enough for me to end up spending a lot of time in a wheelchair, i got full mobility and medium care, and with a dla renewal still am on the same amount.

  • I got a letter back from dla today saying im not entitled to any dla!
Im so worried as we can barely afford to eat atm let alone anything else!
I have fibro, chronic back pain, depression, anxiety & ptsd!
Ive phoned them and asked for a reconsideration! I have 2 girls aged 6 and 2 and Im worried!
We need this money as i cannot work bcoz of the pain and fatigue, as well as the rest! I dont know what else to do, this news has sent me over the edge!
Any advice on what to do now???
    thankyou in advance!

A reconsideration without any new evidence will generally only overturn the first decision if it's clearly wrong, not if it's arguable.
Is there any evidence you can supply that was not supplied?

From letters from people who have seen your condition, doctors, partners, parents.
Health care professionals are the most ideal source.
You are claiming council tax benefit, child tax credit?
If you're single, income support or ESA.

I live with my partner, we get child tax credit & housing benefit atm. Just waiting for my doctor to ring me back as i want to know what he has said to them so i can make sense of it all tbh!
I used to get dla a few years back for my back pain but when i got pregnant with my second child it went away so i stopped claiming, now its back as well as the other probs on top of that they're saying im not entitled? I just dont get it tbh! My doc is a bit of an !!!! to be quite frank hence why i want a word lol! I feel so panicy, i know its pathetic to say that but im just worried as hell! x

Hi I am totally new here....

I am not on benefits, but recently it has been suggested to me that I make a claim for DLA because I have Fibromyalgia, it can be very severe at times and there is no cure. I was diagnosed with this 12 months ago, however I have suffered with the chronic pain for about 2 years now, recently it has got worse.

I have other conditions too.. hypermobility, high blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, and tennis elbow which I realise aren't disabilities as such. However its for the Fibromyalgia that I was suggested to claim for.

Does anyone here also have Firbomyalgia and claims it.

Is it worth me applying or am i wasting my time?

Any help would be appreciated... thank you in advance

I applied for DLA in Dec 11. Fully expected to be turned down as all i heard were horror stories about claiming. CAB did my form with me. I have SLE, Hypertension, underactive thyroid and a kidney condition i cant spell. My SLE is quite severe tbh, and its causing loads of grief. I was awarded HRC HRM indefinately WITHOUT a medical!, last thursday. 1750 went in bank today!! I was shocked to say the least!!! But..... the woman from CAB told me, the cost of tribunals is costing a fortune, so they are accepting more at the min. I would defo apply, but dont go it alone. Im lucky, when they rang me last week they said they were shocked as a medical had been requested, but the decision maker told them not to be daft, it wouldnt help. My blood cant lie, my cells kill each other...simples. Good luck, try not too worry xx

i have sle etc get low rate care high mobility,
but since the award i have gotten worse
with now fibro hypermobility angina rhumertoid.
    as i have it indefinatly
would it be worth appealing this as i really need a lot more
help since i had the stroke.
or should i just wait till pip?

An appeal will only look at the condition when you were put on DLA.
If your condition has worsened, you need to contact them, and you may get a higher rate.
