Well before I replied she sent another!

I was taken aback, hence posting here - noone else to ask for advice. Now I know not to come back here.

how can you be taken aback with that, its not exactly a text.

'Mr manager, such and such has murdered 5 people, what should I do'

some managers have no brains, hense they are managers!

like I said I didnt want to ge tinvolved with this one but it made my blood boil. Managers like this guy cost industry millions each year by making mistakes and cannot deligate and certainly cannot make on the spot decisions. Can you imagine a RBS boss putting on here. ' May I ask for help, an employee text me asking for 1 million pound bonus this year, im not sure if I sohuld give it, what do you think'

god, ive seen some managers over the years some cream off over £500 for for doing double shifts on a sunday when there is no need. I won't sleep tonight!

Get over it. And yourself. You obviously have some kind of issues with 'management' - don't project it on to me and my little dilemma.

OP Are asking for help because you have only had this managerial role for a very short time?

To be honest even someone whom is not a manager could have handled the text without asking, but perhaps there is more to this question then you are letting on.

Have you allowed the temp to be familiar? And I'm sure temps are supposed to contact the agency and not you direct.

So what are you going to do if she turns up to do the late shift anyway? You should have just said I already have someone covering that shift and please come and see me in the morning.

I have more backbone than you will ever hav eif you do not shape up and start making decisions, some of those decisons are make or break!

Anyway, after all these personal attacks, I'm off. I think you all got the wrong end of the stick. I'm a really low level manager.

I regret posting on here. It's not a very friendly board!

It's someone who goes on a public forum to ask a question about HOW to do the job they are presumably getting more pay for than someone lower than them :D
When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.

I'm sorry if I have offended people but in lots of cases managers are on 30K plus per year, if they have to ask peoples advise on a moneysaving forum there is something very wrong.
