solar panels

I looked into it (through E.On) in 2010 and the cost for 14 panels on my south-east facing roof would have been £13K.
The costs have indeed plummeted. £7.5-£8k can get a 4kW system nowadays. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

Unfortunately, Many don't have suitable roofs or other requirements. These needs are crucial:
1. Face towards the sun. Ideally SE to SW. Much outside that range causes mega dropoff
2. Unimpeded view of sun with no partial shading (possibly the most important aspect)
3. Easy access- it is installation costs now which take the edge off the profit
4. A good slope
5. Strong enough roof
Of slightly lesser importance:
6 I would suggest, space for at least a 2kW system to make it worthwhile bothering
7 The ability to use at least some of the electricity during the day
8 Ability to fit the inverter in the house- you get some useful heat off it0 -
Just to let you know,
I've just got my 3Kw Solar PV installed yesterday (rush to beat the deadline). Today's been quite sunny and we got 6.4 kw.
We got Chinese Solar PV and a German made inverter.
So far so good.. we submitted the application via email & special delivery. We received confirmation from the energy company via email. Fingers crossed that we can still have that 43 pence tariff.
Cheers0 -
anyone still looking for SP ..
theres 1 company (poss more now), doing what they call self-financing installs.
Bascially, you use quarterly FIT payments to pay for the install0
