Vodaphone Added Months onto contract

Hi , I have two phones on contract with vodaphone, last january i took one of them on an 18 month contract for my fiance and was hoping to be able to upgrade it may/june time. Checked on the site a couple of weeks ago and it said 26th June 2012.
Looking on there today as had to check my usage, upgrade date has now changed to December 2012. which means they have added 5 months onto that contract.
Just wondered if anyone else has had this happen as i am completely confused.
Emailed them via their website yesterday which states they reply in 24 hours but nothing yet.

Surely they have broken contract by adding 5 months onto it without contacting me , and if so what can I do about it. had searched in google and found a lot of threads on here reguarding vodafone, seems they like to mess with people quite a bit.
pity as ive been with them on payg as well as contract for 13 years

There are a few possible things here.

If you took and early upgrade before you will get that extra time added onto the contract, typically early upgrades are 3 motnhs before the end of a contract so a 18 month contract becomes 21 months and a 24 month 27 months.

Vodafone have also reduced how early you can upgrade, going from 180 days down to 50 days, it was always at their discression. This may change the date the web side says it's permitted, Early upgrades generally are poor value, the network doesn not have to offer a great deal as they know you can't really leave anyway without paying a fee.

It's also possible Vodafone have made a mistake.

No company likes to "mess with people" for fun but often small print in contract is overlooked, most people don't realise the time before the "real" upgrade is due and the "early" upgrade time is added to the end, and thats often a cause for confusion. You may want to go bacl and check your contract paperwork as to exactly how long it was and when it started, and if there was any early upgrade time that was added to the contract end.
  • Hi, the 18 months contract was a new contract thats what it confusing me. I am hoping it is a mistake as although the phone was meant to be drop proof and waterproof , its tempramentel.
Will keep checking for an email from them if not recieved i will pop down to the nearest store tomorrow
