Right well a couple of nights ago I went out drinking. I ended up going to what was supposed to be an afterparty with 2 sisters I had met that night, at their home. The party didn't go ahead and the 2 sisters were left with me outside their home. I was very drunk, and didn't know where I was at the time. It was around 3AM. Anyways one of the girls chose to offer and pay for my taxi ride (£32.00) ... she rang a taxi company on my phone which cost me (£18.80) - which I think is utterly ridiculous. When the taxi turned up half an hour later I was so irate I admittedly did something stupid. I started spitting in the cab to get my form of revenge so to speak. We bumped into a police van and I was arrested. The next morning I received an £80 drunk and disorderly fine.
I've just received a call from the girl who paid for my taxi saying that the taxi company has charged her £50 for my spitting and she would like the money from me.
Now I'm happy to pay the £50 for my behaviour. What I'm not happy about is me having to pay the £18.80. I don't think her generous behaviour should mean I should pay the £18.80. She OFFERED to pay for my cab ... that was her choice. Therefore I feel she should pay for the costs associated with it. Just because I was drunk and lost, it doesn't mean I can't find my way home. Not once did I think for a minute I'd be charged £19 to ring a bloody taxi firm. If I was to know that, there is no way on earth I would have let her book that on my phone. In actual fact it turns out that the £18.80 was the cost for 9 minutes and 40 seconds on the phone to 118118.
So this situation is quite complicated and while this girl was generous enough to pay for my cab ... I never asked for it. She chose to do it for me. Did I think at that moment I would pay a cost of £19 towards that? No. She didn't have to get put through to the biggest taxi firm in the country. What I'd like to add also is that this girl hardly gave me a chance to ask abuot the local buses/main road ... it's as if for their own personal comfort they absolutely insisted on a cab for me. They could see I was badly drunk but they never gave me the chance to see how I could explore buses/main road etc. I'd have thought she could at least asked for my consent. I would rather have just got the bus/walked home , or spend the night trawling the streets!
So all things considering .. I am happy to pay her £31.20 ... or £31/£32. But she absolutely demands her £50 .. what would you do?
Also isn't £50 quite excessive? Yes I behaved like an idiot but this was my night of mistakes.

^^^ Lay off the booze until you learn to control yourself. ^^^
Sorry, but your behaviour in the taxi is all that you should be concerning yourself with at the moment.
If this girl is out of pocket £50 because of your actions then of course you should reimburse her.
(They are probably charging £50 because the taxi had to be taken out of service and cleaned thus losing the driver revenue whilst that took place.)There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
How old are you 12??
The taxi would have had to be cleaned which is what you are paying for, it wasn't the taxi drivers fault the girls used 118 to phone for a taxi. Clearly you were so drunk you were incapable of calling for a taxi yourself and were unaware of what was going on, you're lucky the girls were kind enough to do it for you in the first place instead of leaving you sat on the door step.
Cough up and don't drink until you can act like an adult.0 -
you should be thanking your lucky stars someone was decent enough to look after you
i would give them the £50 a big apology and a very big bunch of flowers if i was you
and remember the moment they helped you0 -
If you get so drunk you are unable to make your own choices then others will make them for you.
Stop complaing, cough up and pay the girl the £50 and give her and the cab company a call to apologise.
I drink but in no way do I drink so much that I do not know what Im doing, it's pointless, reckless and a complete waste of money!:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly

Disgusting behaviour.
A bloke in a pub, in town near me, a fortnight ago, started spitting on the floor (of the pub!). Someone pulled him up over it, so the spitter challenged him to a fight and told him he was going to stab him.
The other bloke threw a punch in first, spitter bloke hit the deck, banged his head and died a week later.
That could have been you.
Don't drink again unless you can handle it and what's with the spitting?! I've been very drunk lots of times and have done silly things but I've never spat anywhere ~ why would you?!
As for the money situation, pay up and shut up.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
You behaved like an imbecile and now you have to pay for your behaviour. That's life!
If you soiled a taxi then the driver will have had to have it cleaned and he will lose earnings for the time it takes to have it done. If this incident happened in the early hours then the driver probably had to finish early and lose out on the rest of the night's trade. All because you act like a moron. Pay up and learn a lesson.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -

Would you be saying that if they had left you to it and you had been attacked, or fallen in front of a car? You could have lost far more than the money you are so reluctant to pay.0 -
Reimburse the £50 with thanks - a card full of thanks and apologies to accompany the money would be OK if you can't afford flowers.
In future, only spit when asked to do so by a dentist.0 -
I'm surprised you'd even admit to this ! What a plonker. If you were my son i'd be ashamed of you.0
