Trousers with lifetime warranty - Button came off?

A popular brand of activity trousers, offers a "lifetime warranty" on an item i recently purchased. After about 4hrs of wear, a button came loose on the trousers. Am i right in assuming that i now need to chase this fault/repair up with the retailer, and not the company.? Regards, AO
