Trousers with lifetime warranty - Button came off?
Comments

Just sew it back on or take them back to the shop for an exchange.
I've got to the point that I redo all the buttons on everything with button thread as soon as I get them (or as soon as I remember to..). One particular brand of trousers I tend to reinforce all of the seams asap too.
If anyone wants to get some Button thread my local fabric/sewing shop had some and I think they all carry it.0 -
I hope the £20+ is a hell of a lot of + if you expect the lifetime to be more than a few months.0

Or some baler twine, works very well I believe. Or some strawberry laces from the sweetie aisle they are deceptively strong when laced together.
as i understand, bailer twinne works well as braces, but colours mustn't mix blue and green must never be seen
also hear happy shoes sell well on ebayBack to square one, no apg, no comment.0 -
Have you considered a large nappy pin?Hope is not a strategy.0

My sewing is really bad, i really should create a "How do i sew a button on?" thread, but i wont. Instead i shall press the retails for the "lifetime warranty", as it was 4hrs not 4wks/4months/4years..
Fair enough. But what happens if a button falls off an item of clothing without a lifetime guarantee? It's not usual for clothing to come with guarantees, so I'm betting that every other item in your wardrobe is at harmful risk of shedding buttons with no solution in sight.
It's a bit of a life-skill really, being able to sew a button on. It's very easy. Why not take this wonderful opportunity to learn"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Hi,
you should've bought a bigger size.0 -
The OP has a point, it could be cheaper for them to replace the trousers in the long run, imagine if the button had come off while he was in public and the trousers had fallen down he could sue for thousands in compensation for the embarrassment.0

If my trousers fell down, I'd be lapping up the accolades, not suing for compo. Just look on it as a valuable public service."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Mr AO says i should sew it back on, but forever more i will be looking at that button knowing that anyday it will come away again, as i sewn it on.
I have contacted the retailer, and awaiting someone to get back about it.0
