AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH CLOVES !!!!!!
Spit, yuk, barf, urgh!!!
As for people who put cloves in apple pies or rice pudding... they should be taken out and shot! I had an apple pie once with ten cloves in it and that was ALL I could taste. Sheesh. One clove shared between 1,000,000,000,000,000 pies would still have been too much.
Harumph!
I'll get me coat ...
Lol Have to agree, I don't like cloves either, even oil of cloves for toothache....yuk.:p
If I have an apple pie or apple crumble thats what I want to taste nothing more nothing less.:)
But this did make me chuckle :rotfl:NewRoadAhead Debts Sep 2009 £35,000.00Debt Free November 2014, Mortgage free June 2022

If you drink tea don't buy Morrisons savers teabags. I found them appalling. Sainsbugs ones are good though:)0

thanks for the tip regarding the tea bags! Ive read the whole "good/bad value foods" thread. Found it very interesting! If all goes to plan my shopping budget for the month should be just over half what i set!0

But first....
Check your store cupboard, fridge and freezer for things that are getting close to use by dates and "shop" from those and switch your meal plans if necessary. That should reduce your shopping bill even further and ensure that you aren't buying stuff just to later throw it away.

Sainsbury's tea is great, and my usual tipple. Last week I thought I'd give Asda a go - BIG mistake! I've now had to up my sugar intake by 50% to take the edge off the bitterness. It's only numbers.0 -

Thanks squeaky! Im in the grocery challenge for March and have ordered my shop from sainsburys to arrive on 15th march - ordering pretty much everyting from basics range. if theres something we dont like, i wont get it again. Until then ive told dh that we are using what we have in. hes fine with that (well, he has no choice really!) ive saved a fortune just by switching!0 -

Think that's the best way:) We've done that with things from Lidl as well. Please report back on what you think.0 -

Is it me or did things like tins of beans once weigh 454 grams?
Heinz now weigh 415g and Arsda Smart weigh 410g

A lot of the brand stuff we like I buy from Home Bargains, for example I bought a bag of 7 mini packets of jammie dodgers for 69p today - my little boy likes a packet with a glass of milk
I also like Aquafresh toothpaste and L'oreal Elvive shampoo, all from Home Bargains.
I find a lot of pound shops and B & M Bargains have brand stuff at really good prices. One thing I really love are Aldi beans, even more than brand ones !! I think it's a question of shopping around really. Some of the big supermarket brands are good too, the Sainsbury's one has a lot of stuff in it.:hello:
